Fencing Club - Salle, After Classes Monday

Again Edmund was in early and setting up for the club. He waited for everyone to arrive before addressing them. "Using a sword rarely comes naturally. You have to put effort into it, but you also have to work at your own pace to learn the fundamentals. If you want to practice the footwork drills from last week, please move over to my left and have at it. Experienced swordsmen...women...people," he fumbled, "who wish to use the time to spar head down the back. Everyone else will be practising a few defence exercises. We'll get to the attacking part next week."

Edmund demonstrated a few defence drills. "There you have it. If you need me to run through them with you, wave me over."

Oh, yes. Her brother would have loved if she had managed to smuggle a sword with her to Fandom.

"No, although I was wondering if there was any place to purchase a sword." Perhaps she should check the internet.

"The internet is probably the best place to check. One of the present-day people should be able to help you with a computer to find what you're looking for. Do you know the dimensions and the weight? If I know those, I should be able to make a suitable training sword for you as I did with Zayne's."

"I was just thinking the same," Azula tilted her head in inquiry, "You could do that? Well, a Jian is, as I mentioned, a double edged straight sword. Its length could vary from 45 to 80 centimenter, I prefer somewhere in the middle, around 70 centimeters making the weight approximately 700 to 900 grams. I have a picture of a Jian sword if you need further reference."

"A picture would be helpful," Edmund nodded. "You can slip it under the door of Room 429 when it suits you and I'll make one for next week for you to try."
