When Cal came in to open the library, he knew that it was just going to be one of those days. One of those days where his apathy for it would cripple his ability to work, while he lack of apathy about the following day distracted him from everything else. In a way, he wanted today to stretch itself out and last forever so that tomorrow might never happen, but, on the other hand, there was too much of a tingle of excitement going through him to completely wish it away.

So, sequestered in the library, he had the whole of the day to think about how it wasn't like he could call off the thing with Eleanor since it was technically under the guise of newpaper business and there was no way he could chicken out of auditioning after what he and Dinah had gone through on Thursday. He was stuck. Thankfully, it was only one day.

Productively spending his time, Cal is staving off organizing the books and instead sitting in his chair with his hair in his face, occasionally twirling a strand of it around his finger.

Ugh. Split ends.

And then Cal realized that a good way to spend time would be to actually maybe do some work for the paper. If he'd thought about that sort of thing last year, he might have actually written more articles.

Of course, this also lead to the eventual pile of crumpled up and unworkable attempts at his very first Editor's Note.

Screw it. Lunchtime already. Cal's taking off for a smoke, so it's just Dr. Jones and his aides with access until he's back.

Revived by nicotine and obsession, Cal returned not only with a sandwich, but a copy of the play, since he might as well look it over.

Almost done. Cal watched the clock a little, thinking of heading out early to head over to the diner and bug Lacey about him getting his other job back.

Because he was such a hard worker, and everything.
