Detention, Saturday

"Hey," Mitchell called, once the handwavey detention announcement had gone out and everyone had had time to gather up by the Danger Shop. "I'm Mitchell. Some of you might've met me." He grinned. "You're here because for whatever reason, the school has chosen to recognise your trespasses. That doesn't mean it has to be horrible, just unpleasant."

Another slight grin, with only a hint of apology.

"So today, we're going to be preparing for a tea party," he continued, "Although I'd like it if you'd all go light on the tea. I'm more of a coffee person."

He shouldn't be allowed free range of children.

"Just enter through there and get your finest," he said, waving at the doorway, "And I'll see you on the other end."

Kitchen. Elbow room. No crazy people. Food. Bollocks.

Jono crossed his arms over his chest, propped himself up against a counter, and proceeded to give dark, angry, very antisocial looks at everything in the room that had the gall to be noticed by him.

Effy was not the sort of girl to be put off by that sort of antisocial glaring, and leveled a look of her own, right back.

"What?"

//What, 'what?' A bloke can't look around a kitchen now without being accused of something, gel?//

Look, the 80's guy had just totally ruined his day. He was still cranky about those comments he'd made about the 90's.

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, touchy. "Girl can't wonder why someone's glaring at her?" she threw back. Maybe he hadn't been glaring at her, but it sure felt like it.

//Well, I'm glaring now.// And he was. See? Totally glaring. //It's been a rotten sodding day, gel. I wouldn't flatter yerself by thinkin' that I'd singled yer out for somehow offending my delicate sensibilities.//

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Unearned detention?" Because he wasn't alone in that one. "Fucking annoying people?" Still not alone. "You're not the only one got that."
furnaceface: (Death Glare)

Re: The Kitchen

//Lucky us,// Jono groused, tapping his fingers crankily against the countertop. //And because the madman and the naffin' plonker with the fag weren't enough, now we get to go and have tea. How bloody delightful.//

Re: The Kitchen

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aww, you don't love our heritage?" Mm, sarcasm. Much as Effy did drink the odd cup, she wasn't big into the tea party side of being British.

//I've got a fist for anyone who has unpleasant words to say about London, luv. I like our heritage plenty.// Another cranky fingertap, and then Jono crossed his arms and shook his head. //I just have a few issues with tea, is all. Bloody ridiculous punishment for a crime we never committed, anyhow.//

Re: The Kitchen

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Could've been worse," Effy pointed out. "As shitty punishments go... I can take tea."
furnaceface: (Looking away)

Re: The Kitchen

[personal profile] furnaceface 2009-09-12 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
//Mmm.// Jono considered that for a moment, and then pushed himself off the counter and looked toward the next room. //Considering the last two blokes he had us participate in stirring conversation with, I have to wonder if he's got tea in mind in there, or more of the same.//

Re: The Kitchen

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wouldn't put more past him." Not after what they'd just had to deal with.

"Some guy just tried to put on deodorant for me." Which... ew, he should've done that to start with. Effy had been hit on by some real creeps, and was still weirded out by that.
furnaceface: (Eyeroll)

Re: The Kitchen

[personal profile] furnaceface 2009-09-12 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
//Was that the one at the door, then?// Jono looked mildly uncomfortable at the mention of him. //He asked me if I'd been rolling about in petrol.//

In all fairness, he kind of did smell like it.

Re: The Kitchen

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Effy nodded once. "That's the creep," she confirmed, tipping her head a little as she observed the sudden verge on discomfort. She assumed he hadn't actually done the rolling, because... well, really weird.

"Always liked that smell anyway." Thank you canon, for such random facts. Which made hanging around him not a bad experience for her.
furnaceface: (Very disappointed in you)

Re: The Kitchen

[personal profile] furnaceface 2009-09-12 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Which Jono could definitely appreciate.

//That would make yer a first,// he noted, relaxing a little. //It is a step up from... whatever was up with him, at least. Not quite right in the head, I think.//

Re: The Kitchen

[identity profile] pastmewrong.livejournal.com 2009-09-12 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mm." Definitely not right, no. "Well. Do strive to be different, in that slightly more sane sort of way." More sane than Bizarre Door Guy, anyway.
furnaceface: (In his room)

Re: The Kitchen

[personal profile] furnaceface 2009-09-12 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
//I can't picture that taking too much effort, luv.//

No. Really. Jono would have to try to be less sane than Bizarre Door Guy. And that was taking into consideration the fact that his face was on fire.

"Just the way I like it." She liked her sanity, thank you. "Good to know someone else thinks that too."
furnaceface: (Very disappointed in you)

//Considering this is supposed to be a punishment for God only knows what, I'm willing to wager that the dirty pillock at the front door was chosen specifically for his particular sort of charm,// Jono pointed out. //Heaven help us all if he's real somewhere.//

Oh, wasn't there a maid to do things like this? Honestly.

Noticing some bread on the counter, Jack rummaged about in the icebox for a package of cheese for sandwiches. It wouldn't kill him to make himself useful.

The kitchen! Yay!

...Wait, what were they supposed to do here? Kate looked around, looking a little confused.

Well. At least Francine knew what to do here.

What? She made lemon bars. What else would you do if you had detention in a kitchen?

"I'm not hungry," Azula said, frostily. This was really trying her patience.
