Library [09/10]

Sam's morning ritual had somehow managed to take less time today than usual, so he got to the library earlier than usual as well. Deciding to put the time to good use, Sam checked for dust and messes in all the places that he had to stretch to reach, figuring that none of the other aides could get to those spots at all. He wasn't sure where the flowers in the library kept coming from, but he took the time to water those too before unlocking the doors and opening the place up.

Sam was at the desk, checking his e-mail and, as promised, looking for potential work for Dean.

Sam was still on the computer, but that was only because he'd gotten sucked into one of those addictive flash games.

Sam was back in the stacks, looking for something to read over the course of the afternoon.

The library wasn't closed for lunch because really, Sam had no interest in keeping people from the books.

Sam was back at the desk, reading quietly like a good little geek.

Okay, a good tall geek.

Sam stuck around until the very end of the period, in case anyone needed something at the last minute.

SUPERNATURAL! NEW! TONIGHT! EEEEE!

Chuck got actual food for lunch this week instead of vending machine snacks. More specifically, burger and fries from the Diner for Sam and sushi for himself. Chuck didn't really eat that diner stuff unless he was high.

"You'll be pleased to know I didn't make any of this myself," Chuck said when he came in. "So it probably won't kill you if you eat it."

Andy came in with the book Sam had reccomended to him last week. "Hey, thanks for this," he said, holding it up before turning it in. "Was a good read."

Sam grinned. "Hey. I'm glad you liked it," he said. "I like cultivating more book nerds around here. How's it going?"

"It doesn't smell like it'll kill me," Sam said, grinning. "You sound like I feel about cooking."

"If you feel like you're going to burn something down every time you get near a stove then, yeah, we both feel the same way," he said as he sat down. "It's not like I've had to cook for myself before coming here, you know."

Claire showed up with coffee again before her classes. "Morning, Sam! How are you today?"

"I'm really good," he said. "How are you?"

"No complaints," she replied with a grin. "I'm really liking my classes this term."

"Of course not. The filthy rich have people who cook for them," Sam said, with just a twinge of jealousy. "Or bring food to them."

"I do miss getting breakfast in bed every morning," Chuck said with a slight pout. "Room service is one of the best parts about living in a hotel."

"Pretty good. I like the place. It's cool, but every now and then something weird hops up to remind you that it's not normal. Keeps it from getting boring."

"You're having fun learning how to hit people?" Sam teased.

"Well, I haven't gotten to hit anyone yet," Claire said with mock sadness. "But I am thinking about buying a sword."

"You actually live in a hotel?" Sam asked. "Do you get room service whenever you want?"

"Like the syrup rain?" Sam said. "That could have been worse - I kept expecting the fire alarm to go off so we'd all have to get sticky."

"Yeah that would've sucked," Andy agreed. "I'd've needed to find someone with an umbrella."

"My father owns the hotel so I get whatever I want whenever I want," Chuck said offhandedly as he poured out soy sauce for his sushi. "I don't know if you've ever been to New York but we own the Palace Hotel. It's the one on Madison Avenue, right across the street from St. Patrick's Cathedral."

Ah, he loved to brag.

"Seriously?" Sam said. "Are you going to get one of those nice leather outfits to go with it?"
