The Cafeteria, lunch

Dinah had done another look around the theater before she left last night, then checked every place she could think where Edward might be in the dorms (he wasn't hiding behind the washers).

Now she was investigating the food in the cafeteria, waiting on Priestly and Adora, and deciding that Luke's was definitely better.

They were really completely sweet people. "I never turn down a hug from friends," Adora replied, smiling a little at the pair.

That was all the permission Dinah needed. Glomp! "I'm sure he's okay," she said, hanging onto Adora. "We were just saying he could take care of himself."

"What with the troll hunting, and all. That shit takes skills."

Hugging always made things just a little better. Well, up until the thinking part returned. "Yes! He is a wonderful hunter and friend and singer and...please tell me Edward is safe and coming back to us!"

And there at the other end of the table would be Layla who was just finishing putting together her peanut butter and onion sandwich.

Why onions? Don't ask.

Why she is she there? Well obviously to impart stuff she knows.

"Sorry to eavesdrop but just so you don't have to worry further or wonder what's going on, Edward is safe," Layla said licking one end her sandwich where the peanut butter had oozed out. "But unfortunately his trip is one way. He's back in Andalasia hunting trolls and doing that singing thing he does so well but the witch who made the well he fell through blocked off his return to Fandom. She's also blocked off the entrance from Fandom as well so we can't even try to rescue him."

She then gave Adora a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry, Adora. He can't come back and misses you terribly. But at least he's home and safe."

Dinah was kind of left blinking at this extreme example of Knowing Stuff, her arm tightening on Adora reflexively. "Awww, mannn...." No rescue? No going back? "No problem with the eavesdropping," Dinah said automatically. "Really. This is one we wanted to know." Even though it really bit.

Priestly was rather less eloquent. "That . . . totally sucks ass."

He really kind of wanted to ask how she knew, but he'd been here long enough to know better.

Adora just stared at Layla, jaw dropped. "Not coming back?" She worked to steel herself against her emotions. They would do no good to anyone.

"Thank you, I'm sure Edward would be glad to know someone had shared his fate with us. Perhaps he will find Giselle and all will be well for him!"

"I think he liked you better than Giselle," Priestly offered. He knew how she must feel.

"Definitely," Dinah said immediately. "And ... we should get ice cream. Or. Something." Still processing. No idea what else to say. Plus it sucked for Priestly, too, and she was pretty bummed for herself.
