Library [9.1]
It was her first library shift of the fall semester, and Anemone was now, officially, a senior.
Too weird. But in a good way.
Since it was the start of the school year, there wasn't much work to do, and Anemone happily settled in behind the desk, tinkering with the compac drive she'd brought back to school with her.
She turned it over in her hands to watch the play of light across the complex circuitry inside. And if it looked like it flared to life once or twice, well, it was just a trick of the sun. There wasn't any Trappar here.
Still, it was shiny, and Anemone was humming absently as she started dismantling it, picking it apart and putting it back together. She was never going to be an engineering genius like Woz or Jobs, but knowing how the drives worked in relation to her refboard, well, that was just being curious, and Anemone had never been able to resist shiny things.
Maybe some of these wires would make awesome jewelry...
The Fandom High Library was open, but beware the library aide with the screwdriver. She waves it about when she gets excited.

"Show me what your writing looks like, and maybe we can find a dictionary or something," she said, holding it out. "There's lots of languages here, so something should match."

Azula didn't need the clean page, she came prepared and pulled out a parchment from her sleeve then presented the paper to her. "Here, match it if it's possible."

"I'm not exactly a linguist," she began, before her eyes fell to the page. Swell. That was the language of the royal families. Fantastic.
"That's called Japanese here, I believe," she replied, reaching in her own bag and pulling out a battered card (http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r56/Outrider42/Eureka%207%20Episode%20Caps/Eureka%207%20Ep%2043%20Caps/outriderE7ep43cap050.jpg). She'd found it, crumpled under the bed in Dominic's quarters, and kept it for herself. "Can you read that?"
no subject
"Some words are foreign to me but if I read the card right it's an official communication." She looked up at Anemone for confirmation. "Well, am I right?"
no subject
"We'll get you a few Japanese/English phrasebooks and a dictionary. Did you want books in Japanese to read, too, or just translation-stuff?" Everything about the other girl screamed 'gives orders', and it was taking everything Anemone had not to revert to her tendency to bristle at command.

"There's the card catalog," Anemone said sweetly, pointing off to the side. "Have fun deciding which ones you want."
Her self-control wasn't that good.

"I'm sure your recommendations are better than what's written down in the catalogs."

"I may need those too," she smiled at Anemone, "I'm very new, I do need assistance."
