BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Rather than fly from Philadelphia to Baltimore, Eric's parents had given him a lift. They had offered to drive him directly to the school, but he told them he would rather meet the group at the airport and take the shuttle. That way he'd get an early glimpse at all the hot girls he was sure would be going to his new school.

So now he was relaxing in the lounge, drinking a soda and waiting. It wasn't going to college, but it would do.

What was this fascination with the stuff that trailed from her head? She recognized it as a compliment, though, which is more than she could say for the bucket of words that had vomited forth from the other girl's mouth.

"It suits me," was her answer, which might be as close as you'd ever get to a thank-you from Illyria if you weren't visibly dripping with power.

"It really does," Hayley said.

"...You ever thought about green?"

Illyria paused before answering, unable to take any insult from the question no matter how hard she might try. At last she dipped her head, concentrating on the minor shift of atoms whirring through her shell.

When she lifted it, the stripes in her hair - lips, eyes, the tint of her skin - were emerald green where once they'd been sapphire. She stared appraisingly at the back of her hand. "It doesn't suit as well."

Hayley stared in awe.

"I think it's gorgeous," she said.

At least try being civil? Just as an experiment? Most humans won't fear or worship you; you may wish to find other means of relating to them.

"Your admiration is noted." For her, that was civil. "The color clashes with my armor." Not that she couldn't change the color of that as well, but she liked the red. A moment's thought and her hair and eyes were back to what they'd been.

"Well, you ever thought about... purple armor?" Hayley said.

Hayley had strong urges to suggest people dress like The Joker.

Illyria looked down at the red. "I like this. It reminds me of my enemies' blood."

If Illyria was trying to get a groupie, she was succeeding.

"Wow, no kiddin'," Hayley said. "I guess you'd know best about your outfits, huh?"

"Outfits?" Still looking down. "I need only this. It changes to suit my desire." She...just mostly desired to be reminded of her enemies' blood, when she wasn't trying to re-create the appearance of the shell.

"Oh, well, you'd know best, honest," Hayley said. She'd agree to just about anything Illyria said.
