BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Rather than fly from Philadelphia to Baltimore, Eric's parents had given him a lift. They had offered to drive him directly to the school, but he told them he would rather meet the group at the airport and take the shuttle. That way he'd get an early glimpse at all the hot girls he was sure would be going to his new school.

So now he was relaxing in the lounge, drinking a soda and waiting. It wasn't going to college, but it would do.

"Do," Azula said and was about to say something snappy when she remembered the deal with Zuko.

"Hello," she said after a moment even managing to sound almost pleasant.

Something about the girl's bearing seemed almost royal in a way, and Didi straightened herself more formally in return. "I'm Didi. I'll dry out eventually, promise."

"Azula," she said, then nodded her head imperiously then eyed the girl again. "There's no rain, why are you dripping wet?

"It happens when you fall into a fountain," Didi said, blithely unconcerned. "I'll dry. The wet feels kind of neat."

"It's a feeling I only like if I went out for a swim and not fully dressed," Azula said.

"That would probably be better," Didi agreed. "But I didn't, and I don't want to miss the bus changing clothes, so I might as well get used to this."

It had been a very long time since she went swimming.

The prospect of being in the same vehicle with someone as wet as Didi did not please Azula, fortunately Azula had a solution to the problem.

"I can help you dry your clothes faster," she said, raising one hand.

"You do magic?" Didi asked with a raised eyebrow. "Or are you just going to show me where the extra paper towels are?"

Still, it didn't seem like the kind of magic that could hurt, and the wet jeans thing was already getting old. Didi would let the girl go ahead.

"Not magic," Azula said, the tone of her voice indicated what she thought of magic. "Firebending."

And just as she said the word a small blue flame appeared in her hand.

"You don't see that often," Didi said, mildly surprised. "Go ahead."

With the ankh, she didn't think she could get too badly burned anyhow.

"You're not familiar with bending?" Azula asked, surprised. She stepped back, clapped her hands together before pushing them apart, instead of fire, heat dispersed from Azula's hands towards Didi.

"Not with having it called that," Didi answered. "It's not witchcraft?"

She stepped into the heat, letting it lap at her skin as her clothing dried. It felt nice. Tingly.

"No," Azula said firmly. "It is neither magic nor witchcraft. It's an ability to bend the elements. Everyone knows this."

Everyone in your world, Azula. But she didn't know this yet.

"I don't do this for anyone and I just don't like the prospect of being enclosed with someone as wet as you. Don't make a habit of this.

"I'll try to stay away from you next time I fall into a fountain and get whisked away to school," Didi promised. "It's really not something I do that often."

Sheepishly, she added, "And thank you."

"Good," Azula said then nodded, magnanimous.
