Rather than fly from Philadelphia to Baltimore, Eric's parents had given him a lift. They had offered to drive him directly to the school, but he told them he would rather meet the group at the airport and take the shuttle. That way he'd get an early glimpse at all the hot girls he was sure would be going to his new school.

So now he was relaxing in the lounge, drinking a soda and waiting. It wasn't going to college, but it would do.

"Waffles," Eric said. "But not the kind that go in the toaster. She has a waffle iron. Which is not the kind of iron you use on clothes."

This was like talking to Delirium when she was in one of her more lucid and childlike moods. Luckily, those weren't exactly rare.

"I like the toaster kind," Didi answered calmly.

"Did you know if you put them in a computer, you'll ruin it?" Eric asked.
