BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Rather than fly from Philadelphia to Baltimore, Eric's parents had given him a lift. They had offered to drive him directly to the school, but he told them he would rather meet the group at the airport and take the shuttle. That way he'd get an early glimpse at all the hot girls he was sure would be going to his new school.

So now he was relaxing in the lounge, drinking a soda and waiting. It wasn't going to college, but it would do.

Really, no matter how he tried, Cal could not just ignore the chick in leather with the death glare. He never did have much of a survival instinct.

"Smoke?" he asked, holding out a pack of cigarettes. She looked like she might be a smoker, so he felt it was a safe offer.

Illyria stared at the object in his hand. "I see none." He didn't appear to be on fire.

"No, I mean, do you want one?" Cal tried again. "But, somehow, I get the feeling you're not a smoker."

Ah. Cigarettes. "You set leaves on fire and suck them in to poison your lungs."

"Don't forget stain your teeth and make your fingernails turn yellow," Cal offered, holding up a hand to show, although he still had a long way to go until the points he mentioned.

"And this is enjoyable to you?"

"Not necessarily those parts, no," Cal admitted. "But it's good to have something to do with your hands, and the smoke reminds me of someone."

Illyria stared at her own hands, flexing the fingers with crablike motions. "I find enjoyment in hitting things with mine."

Man, it would figure he went to chatting up the chick who likes hitting things.

"Yeah," Cal allowed, "that's not so bad, either, I guess."

"It makes this world less odious for a time."

"There's a punching bag in the gym," Cal said, trying very hard not to think about the hot chick in leather in gym clothes and failing utterly. "That's pretty good for that, too."

"I normally use Spike for that." But Spike wouldn't be there. "Perhaps I shall visit this gym you speak of."

"You should," Cal said with a nod. "I go there often myself, so maybe I could show you around, if you...wanted."

Oh Cal.

"This would be acceptable."

God help you.

His levels of unintentional masochism really knew no bounds.

Despite himself, Cal grinned a little. "Good. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see you there, then."
