BWI Portalocity Terminal [Saturday Morning]

Rather than fly from Philadelphia to Baltimore, Eric's parents had given him a lift. They had offered to drive him directly to the school, but he told them he would rather meet the group at the airport and take the shuttle. That way he'd get an early glimpse at all the hot girls he was sure would be going to his new school.

So now he was relaxing in the lounge, drinking a soda and waiting. It wasn't going to college, but it would do.

The restraints on her wrist and hands were taken off before they landed on the port. Azula hadn't been lying when she said the chains chafed.

Azula stood near her luggage and crossed her arms, waiting.

Eric smiled and waved at the girl.

Azula glanced at the boy smiling and waving at her. She would have ignored him but she remembered the deal she made with her brother.

"Yes?"

"I'm Eric," he said, happy that she could speak English. Unless he somehow was able to understand Japanese. "Nice to meet you."

He didn't seem to be anything special or of consequence and he immediately slid into the 'peasant' category in her mind.

But as her brother had reminded her before she left, she was here to 'play nice'. And she could play nice.

"Azula," she replied with a charming smile. "And it is nice to meet you as well, Eric."

She could gag.

"That's a fancy name," Eric remarked, completely unaware of her negative attitude towards him.

"It should be," Azula replied. "I was named after my esteemed grandfather."

Maintaining the smile was harder especially when all she wanted was to be left alone.

"Your powers of observation astound me," she said. The smile was still there when she said that. "My grandfather was named Azulon."

Surely this peasant knew Fire Lord Azulon.

"Heeeeeey," Hayley said. "You don't look happy to be here."

Hayley wasn't, herself. But she seemed more than happy.

"We're about to enter a school," Azula said, "no one in their right mind would be happy to."

Azula glossed over the fact that until a few months ago she wasn't in her right mind.

Azula had already learned all she needed and going back to school was an insult to her intelligence.

She looked over the girl. "Did you change the color of your hair?"

"Me? Oh no," Hayley said. "Been this color ever since I was born."

This was the first time Azula has ever seen a person posses hair color other than black or dark brown.

"Have you been exposed to some sort of sickness? Or were you offered to the moon spirit too?" She heard reports about the Princess Yue of the Northern Water Tribe.

"Me? I ain't sick," Hayley said, her eyes big and worried. "But I don't know anything about any moon spirits."

"Then why is your hair that color?" Azula demanded, flummoxed. She didn't like not knowing things.

"I was born with it?" Hayley said. "Honest."

She didn't seem to be lying and Azula could tell when someone lied to her.

"Perhaps," Azula said, which was all she was going to concede. "And do you have a name to go with that hair?"

"Hayley!" she said. "Hayley Fitzpatrick. It's really nice to meet you."

"Azula," she returned, giving an imperious nod. "You're charmed I'm sure."

Hayley had to admit, at least mentally, there was a little bit of Bianca she could feel from this girl.

"Oh, you bet," she said. "Very very charmed."

She was agreeable. Azula liked that. She allowed a smile to grace her features.
"And what year will you be starting in the school?"

"This is my last year," Hayley said. "After this, I'm done with high school. Thank God."

"You would be in your fourth year," Azula concluded. Hayley would be older but Azula never had a problem bossing talking to people older than herself. "I shall be entering the school as a third year student."
