Today was the last day of class and Loki's last day of teaching for a long while, at least. He'd be leaving all that up to the non lazier ones come fall. For now, there was just one last time to get to torment his students.

"Good morning," he began exuberantly. "You all made it to the last fucking class of the term. Now, now, don't cry. I'm sure we'll see each other again. And, if you don't, well, I'm sure we'll all live. Now, I'd thought of planning some super hard final just to piss everyone off but I just couldn't make myself plan something hard like that."

That would have meant he'd have to pay attention or grade something and he was just too fucking lazy to do that on the last day of class.

"So, instead, I'm going to assign each of you an individual situation," he decided. "Could be anything and I want you to tell me how you'd solve that little quirk or, if you can't solve it, how you'd deal with it. You can use things we've learned this semester or you can make up your own fucking way. This is just to see how you do with things on the fly. Let's get started."

Oh, the quirks he'd devised. His brain was fucking awesome.

"I can't read and do normal room stuff if I keep my eyes closed all the time," Tara said reasonably. His calmness made it easier for her to concentrate on not stammering. "Will you put on clothes to go to class and stuff?"

"I think I'd have to, right? I wouldn't want to get arrested or something like that," he replied, shrugging. "But it's my room too. Is there a rule that I have to be clothed?"

"C-can I make a rule that if I'm in here you have to wear a robe?" Tara asked meekly, as if she didn't really expect Loki to go for it.

Still calm, Loki said, "You could make a rule. But you might do a little better with leaving rules out of it and maybe trying to just compromise. Don't call it a rule, maybe?"

He'd sort of fallen out of the character there but she was on the right track. Most people just approached rules as things to be broken.

Tara hadn't meant to do the whole thing in character anyhow, so she was happy to let that go. "So maybe she has to wear a robe most of the time when I'm there unless she's sleeping? I d-don't care what she wears to bed."

"That's the way I'd go," Loki agreed. "She might want something from you like...less loud music or maybe use of the room for a few hours by her or himself during the week but compromising would work much better than trying to make it a rule."

That made sense, and Tara nodded. "So I'd have to not get all shouty at her about it."

As if the girl ever got all shouty.

"Yeah, no shouting, be rational and then she can't really say you were forcing her to do anything," he said. "It might not always work out but it's better than being overly aggressive."

"So I could calmly explain it makes me uncomfortable and s-see what she offers to do about it?" Tara said. "Okay."

A beat later, she added, "And I'm sorry I missed class last week. I was, uh, a potted plant."

"...potted plant?" he repeated. "That's...unfortunate. You got better though."

"A violet," Tara said, looking at the ground and very grateful this was the last time she'd have to explain this to a teacher. "It lasted, um, Friday to Wednesday."

"Wow, you didn't even get to turn into something exciting," Loki noted. "A friend of mine turned into a fluffy bunny once. Fucking hilarious."

"I think b-being a bunny would be more fun," Tara said. "Being a violet was just ... mellow."

"Yeah, at least he got to be taken places and dressed up," Loki agreed. "You're lucky to get watered when you're a plant. I barely keep plants alive."

"I g-guess I'm lucky somebody watered me," Tara decided.

And that made her wonder whether anyone had ever died while they were not a person. It wasn't a happy thought. "So, um ... I'll let you talk to the next person?" she tried. "Th-thank you for class."

"You're welcome," he nodded. "Thanks for attending." With that, he moved onto the next person.
