Creative Writing [Tuesday, 5th Period]

Rick was visibly excited as the class entered the room. Seats were set up in a semi-circle facing a central chair.

"Afternoon, kids," Rick said cheerfully as he stragglers arrived. "I trust you're all ready to present your stories to the rest of the class. If not, you've got the next ten minutes to get yourselves ready."

Gesturing to the central seat, he continued. "Each of you is going to take a turn to read out your story and the rest of you are going to listen politely, which means no writing, talking, or goofing off. At the end of the class, you'll have a chance to mingle and comment on each other's work. There will be pizza."

He clapped his hands together. "So who wants to go first?"

Jon stood up and told a very detailed and colorful story about Jack Danielson, the archaeologist who stumbled upon an ancient artifact that enabled him to travel to other planets. There was action, adventure, romance and danger. It was almost as if he had actually been there and was telling it all from memory.

The thing, with the wedding cake and the princess with the magic box were especially riveting bits.
