Creative Writing [Tuesday, 5th Period]

Rick was visibly excited as the class entered the room. Seats were set up in a semi-circle facing a central chair.

"Afternoon, kids," Rick said cheerfully as he stragglers arrived. "I trust you're all ready to present your stories to the rest of the class. If not, you've got the next ten minutes to get yourselves ready."

Gesturing to the central seat, he continued. "Each of you is going to take a turn to read out your story and the rest of you are going to listen politely, which means no writing, talking, or goofing off. At the end of the class, you'll have a chance to mingle and comment on each other's work. There will be pizza."

He clapped his hands together. "So who wants to go first?"

Re: Present Your Stories: Valentine Wiggin - CW [Week Seven]

Valentine's story was about Prometheus, the woman who stole fire from the gods. A very spirited and intellectually charged redhead, Prometheus was not satisfied with simply stealing fire. The years tied to a rock having an eagle eat her insides didn't seem to dissuade her from going after her next prize: ambrosia. She had managed to swipe it by infiltrating an orgy of the gods, but, as with when she stole fire, she was caught. Her punishment this time, however, was that her credit for her feats would not be attributed to her, but, instead, to the somewhat bumbling male companion, and lines were blurred so that he also got her name.

People getting the credit for her work, after all, was a story Valentine knew well.
