Creative Writing [Tuesday, 5th Period]

Rick was visibly excited as the class entered the room. Seats were set up in a semi-circle facing a central chair.

"Afternoon, kids," Rick said cheerfully as he stragglers arrived. "I trust you're all ready to present your stories to the rest of the class. If not, you've got the next ten minutes to get yourselves ready."

Gesturing to the central seat, he continued. "Each of you is going to take a turn to read out your story and the rest of you are going to listen politely, which means no writing, talking, or goofing off. At the end of the class, you'll have a chance to mingle and comment on each other's work. There will be pizza."

He clapped his hands together. "So who wants to go first?"

Robin was nervous, but he'd performed in front of audiences before, so he covered it well. His story was a rousing young adult adventure, set in Key West. The heroine, a young lady who can talk to the animals and her wacky frog, cat, and dolphin sidekicks defeat some funny pirates and save the local aquarium from bankruptcy with buried treasure.
