Creative Writing [Tuesday, 5th Period]

Rick was visibly excited as the class entered the room. Seats were set up in a semi-circle facing a central chair.

"Afternoon, kids," Rick said cheerfully as he stragglers arrived. "I trust you're all ready to present your stories to the rest of the class. If not, you've got the next ten minutes to get yourselves ready."

Gesturing to the central seat, he continued. "Each of you is going to take a turn to read out your story and the rest of you are going to listen politely, which means no writing, talking, or goofing off. At the end of the class, you'll have a chance to mingle and comment on each other's work. There will be pizza."

He clapped his hands together. "So who wants to go first?"

Re: Present Your Stories: Kate Gregson - CW [Week Seven]

Kate’s story could have used a little more polishing, but it was pretty good all the same, and she was confident in reading it aloud.

The story was about an unnamed, rather serious young man . It started with him in a café with a book he wanted to read, waiting for the time he had to be at some appointments later in the day. He started reading, but for some reason - and this part made Kate shoot a quick grin at Priestly - he kept getting papercuts each time he turned the page, and about 25 pages in he could no longer read because he had smeared blood all over the book.

It was then revealed that the man was a frequent customer at the café, but never talked to the waitress there, except for when he ordered his usual coffee. The unfortunate event with the book forced him to ask for help with his hands that needed bandaging.

After some amusing twists and turns, the waitress ended up driving the man around for the day. Eventually, they ended up looking at the display window of a thriftstore at 1 AM, discussing a book both remembered from their childhood. The story concluded with a description of the young man’s smile.
