"Right," Glinda said, "performances are next week. I look forward to what you will show for each of your pieces. Today you will have free time to work on your project, and ask me questions about it, if you so desire. Please work quietly, and take as much of the food as you like."

Glinda had gotten creative today, and all the food and drinks were items that were referenced in songs: cherry Coke, slider cheeseburgers, canned peaches, candy, pizza and pasta fazool.

Yes, she had no bananas.

Joan gave the unfamiliar 'girl' a sideways glance. It was a small class and she definitely had not noticed her before.

"Hi," she said.

He peeked out from one side to smile at Joan, lips tight.

"Morning," he said.

"I, uh, don't think we've met," Joan said hesitantly. Because there was something familiar about her. She just couldn't quite put her finger on what it was.

He rubbed at his face for a moment before shaking his head.

"Oh, we have. The island just thinks it has a fine sense of humor."

Brightly, a little too brightly, he held out a hand.

"Liir Thropp-Tigelaar, miss."

Joan managed to control her giggling long enough to shake his... her hand. "Oh, this place."

She well remembered the time she woke up as a boy.

He ducked back under the scarf, rolling his eyes.

"It's really not funny. Especially the second time around."

"I'm sorry," she apologized. "It's just... unexpected. You're a very pretty girl."

Because that would make him feel better, yes.

Yes, you can tell by how his head thunked lightly on the desk.

"I would still totally go out with you," Joan assured him.

He turned his head, still on the desk.

"Oh?"

Just curious. A little bit relieved. After all, there was more to appearances than just if the girl you've been seeing a few times will still go out with you. But it does help.

"Sure, why not?" Joan asked. "You're still you. Just in a different, uh, package."

Possibly not the best word choice, but well.

"And it's not like I've never kissed a girl..."

Not that there had been kissing yet between her and Liir, mind you.

Joan's cheeks were still a little pink but she nodded. "Yeah, pretty much."

He waited for a moment before grinning.

"We have some more cooking to do tonight for the luau. Perhaps you'd like to help me?"

"Sure, I could do that," Joan said, smiling back. "I have to go buy some decorations this afternoon, but I'm free the rest of the day."

"I'll be up in the sixth floor kitchen, since it wouldn't do to take up a common room that way."

He waved that off immediately.

"I enjoy it. And I like feeling useful."

In fact, he needed it, especially after the 'other' fandom island adventure.
