Claudia today had gone all out for her ensemble--gold lamé shorts, pink shirt, red beret, adorable sandals, earrings made out of radishes--and was just a little late arriving at the library because of it.

But fashion was more important than promptness, right?

The library was open!

In need of more reading material (and not at all because he knew Claudia was working), Griffin was back in the library, staring at tiny radishes.

"How did I miss vegetables coming into style?"

"Did your subscription to Vogue run out?" Claudia asked, grinning. "Hi!"

"Was I supposed to renew that? I knew I was forgetting something this month," Griff said.

"Fortunately, you're in the library, so I can help you out," Claudia said with a little smile.

"See, and I was mostly coming in for books. Who knew there were periodicals in these places," he teased.

She giggled. "Amazing, huh? Just don't try to cut them up for collages. They don't like that."

"Think I'll stick to books. You know where I can find the ones about uh, vampires?" No reason for asking, really.

"Depends on what kind of vampires," Claudia said. "Scary vampires or glittery vampires? Oooh, or whiny ones?"

"Maybe a variety," he said. "I've got a lot of time to read, after all."

"Between movie dates?" Claudia asked oh-so-subtly, leading Griff to the correct section of the library.

"Figured you'd heard about that," he said, following along. "It wasn't technically a date, no matter how nicely it ended." Griff, no grossing out Claudia with your smirky smile.

"How did it end?" Claudia asked warily.

"Well, uh, nicely," he repeated, smiling happily before realizing how she might take that. "Don't worry, nothing Karev would approve of."

"So a nice handshake and an agreement from her to never yank you around again?" Claudia asked hopefully.

"Not exactly," he said, a little guiltily. "But there won't be any yanking around." Dirty?

"Are you, like, official or something?" Claudia replied.

"No," he said with a little head shake. "But things have been different lately. I think I'm different." Which explained why he was looking for vampire novels.

"Different how?" Claudia asked, tilting her head. "Did you get a hair cut or something?"

He resisted the urge to laugh. "No, just more aware and not likely to get hurt."

A pause. "Do you think I should cut my hair?"

"Does she like it long?" Claudia asked.

Because if Fiona did, Claudia was so telling him to cut it. She was seventeen like that.

"Don't really know," he admitted. "First time I've really thought about my hair since that time I dyed it a couple years back." Blond was not his color, okay?

"What color?" asked the always distractable Claudia.

"Kind of a kinky yellow," he said. "Really bad looking."

"You could probably rock some highlights, though," Claudia declared.

"Happily, I'm a guy and that's not really how things work," Griff replied, worried he was going to end up at a spa.

"Oh, sure it is, sweetie," Claudia said. "Highlights just aren't for gay guys any more. Or people in boy bands."

"Oh?" Cue the look of terror.

"We should totes go to the spa. It'll be fun!"

He tilted his head to look at her a moment. "There's likely no way I'm getting out of this, is there?"

"Nope!" Claudia chirped. "It's not like I'm gonna make you put cucumbers over your eyes or anything."

"I'll hold you to that," he warned. Please, he was a giant pushover.
