Anakin looked absolutely wiped out as he stood in the center of the flight shed. His eyes flickered to each student's face, mentally appraising their fitness to fly. "Today we're flying capital ships," he said, flicking his hands toward the screen set up in the corner. "Specifically this ~~or the first minute and a half anyway~~ capital ship. It was called the Invisible Hand and when I was flying it, half of it had already broken up in the atmosphere, the rudder that steered the ship had been in that half, and the thrusters weren't firing enough to stop us. The equipment was also set up for a species other than human and I couldn't read the controls."

Anakin had landed anyway. He was just that good. There wasn't a pilot in a million that could replicate what he'd done.

"Since I was working under rather...strained...circumstances, we'll do something a little easier to live through," he said. "You'll have the entire ship, and the back half will be on fire. The controls will be set up for your species and you'll be able to read the controls."

Yes, he thought that was cutting them a break. Anakin was odd. "Begin!"

"I think he's starting to calm down," Peter said. "Hopefully."

"That's good," Claire said. "Let me know if there's anything I can do?"

"Absolutely," Peter said. "How are you doing?"

"I'm okay," Claire said. "Dinah's having a rough time, so we stayed up and watched chick flicks the other night. And Rose told me that there was a me there with dark hair."

Peter frowned and looked her over. "I like you better as a blonde."

Claire raised her eyebrows at him. "How do you know?"

"I'm using my imagination," Peter replied.

Claire chuckled. "Rose told me that I shouldn't dye it dark."

"That's two," Peter said. "See? You're outvoted."

"I didn't realize my hairstyle choices were a democracy," Claire joked.

"Good thing you talked to me first then," Peter teased in return.

"Yeah," Claire said, rolling her eyes. "I guess I should ask Jon what his vote is."

"Why?" Peter asked. "You've already been outvoted."

"What if Jon likes the idea of me as a brunette?"

Not that Claire was actually considering dying her hair. It was the principle of the thing.

"Still outvoted," Peter said.

Claire giggled. "So you and Rose outrank me and my boyfriend?"

"I'm your uncle," Peter reminded her. "My vote definitely counts more."

Like Claire could ever forget that fact. "Maybe I should call Nathan. His vote would totally outweigh yours."

"You really think he'd vote for dying your hair?" Peter asked.

"Maybe not, but I know he believes strongly in the democratic process."

Even if he won his election because it was rigged. Details.

"So you call him, he votes no dye, there you go," Peter said. "Democracy at work."

Claire snickered. "I can't believe you're really so invested in what color my hair is."

"I'm invested in teasing you," Peter told her.

"You're lucky I love you," Claire said.

"I really am," Peter replied.
