Library (And Support Services): Saturday Morning

This time there was breakfast food out - maybe not the best breakfast food since it was a donation from McMooby's, but at least there was protein in it. And the Perk had sent along one of those giant business-meeting coffee dispensers.

Up at a table near the front, there was a notebook with neat (if extremely somewhat girly) handwriting that detailed what had been found so far: sunlight, holy water, stakes, a device under the school that controls the island... it was all there. What they didn't have, of course, was anything to tell them where to send the other island, or how, or any guarantee the people over there could do anything with the information. Assuming the other Fandom even had everything in it that this one did.

So. Piles of books on the tables. Yes. Lots and loooots of books.

[OOC: OPEN! Research post two, ends just before noon because that's when volunteers will be scurrying over to Town Hall to get the collected info to the last of the non-comatose sleepers!]

Mina delved deep into the books on the island itself. While much of it was hard to decipher, she did feel as if she was making some progress.

Ellie went right back to the book she had last been reading through, hoping to find something useful in there.

Gabrielle got a little sidetracked for a while, having determined that there was a difference between vampires and Bacchae, and wanting to know exactly what the difference was.

She decided she liked her version better, in the end. Knowing there was a version of these blood-drinkers out there whose existence didn't depend on a god was unsettling.

Books. Books. More books.

Jack still hadn't found The Complete Idiot's Guide to Pulling People Back from Evil Alternate Dimensions, but at least he was getting a nice chance to practice reading in German and Latin.

Mitchell was here, and going through his books. However, he was keeping a wary eye on his phone as well.

Annja was dragging her hands through her hair as she closed the latest book in frustration.

At some point, Diana realized that wandering around the other side of her closet was not helping and showed up to the library, Samuel riding shotgun in her bag. "So uh, what needs to be done?"

George so wasn't a library person, but he didn't know what else to do what with all these people falling asleep. Seemed t'him like it might be magic, but what did he know?

He was hunched over a book that seemed to be about Eastern Europe - what the hell was Eastern Europe? He didn't know.

Diana noticed someone who looked as happy as she was and sat down next to him. "Hi." For Diana, that was almost polite.

George looked up, a smile quirking as he saw Diana. "Lass," he said mildly.

Diana glared. "Diana." She said carefully, pronouncing each syllable. Samuel snorted in her bag. "Find anything in-useful?"

"Tis terrible how I keep forgettin'," George smirked. He looked down at the book. "Seems there's a ban on garlic in some country. Th' vampires don' like it."

Diana had to remind herself that she was not allowed to tinker with people's heads here. No matter how annoying certain people got. "There's a country where vampires live?" She checked, focusing on the task at hand.

"So th' book says," he replied. "Rumania? Tis somewhere in th' east."

"Romania." Diana corrected. "It's in Eastern Europe." She shuddered. "Their airport security has no sense of humor. Dracula was supposed to be from there."

George offered her the book. "P'raps you'll be gettin' more out of it?"

[identity profile] oops-mbad.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Diana snorted, but glanced down at the book. "I'm not really one for research. Plus, the vamps back home are civilized.

Diana shook her head. "We don't even have anything other than what you're already reading. Home's pretty similar to here, only crazier."

Re: Research Your Heart Out (No stakes plz.)

[identity profile] noearsyet.livejournal.com 2009-08-02 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
George eyed him for a long moment. "Aye, an' if it's crazier means it isn't similar t'here."

Robin didn't know if he was making much progress, but he was soldiering on none the less. If nothing else he was useful for returning books and getting new ones.

Momoko was so not a natural born researcher, but she hadn't yet been able to figure out a way to actually fight anything, so she was here. At the least, she could read any relevant books that were in Japanese?

Reese got stuck into the schematics he'd been looking at before he went to sleep. He didn't need to understand the words to understand what he was looking at. The machines depicted were nothing like the advanced ones he knew - and had been running from his whole life - but maybe there was something that could jump people between timelines (or alternate universes as they called it here). After all, one had sent him back in time here.

Fiona hit the books once more. If the reports were to be believed, no doubt Griff was among the sleeping. She wanted to go to him, sit by his bed, be there when he woke up... but that was useless, emotional, stupid.

No, she'd research and she'd find a way to help him and she's see him smiling and red-eared and drinking coffee again soon, dammit.
