Sam was still feeling quite a bit off balance from all the dreams he'd had yesterday as he got the library set up for the day. His original nightmare had been bad enough, but the short ones were completely freaking him out. They were clear, just like his visions, but he never had visions about himself, only about others. Seeing himself doing things like fighting with Claire wasn't right at all. Then there was the fact that the dreams didn't hurt, and that when he came to again, real minutes had passed instead of just moments.

It was all strange and wrong, and Sam wondered if going to his dad when he was done here for the day would be a good idea.

Sam went through his e-mail and tried to relax as much as he could while the worrying thoughts kept going in the back of his mind.

Sam had gotten so caught up in his own issues that he hadn't gotten anything to share with Dean today, and he made a mental note to bring twice as much next week.

Sam was at the main counter reading up on world news, right up until he drifted off and ended up pillowing his head on his arms instead.

Peter came in at the usual time and noticed Sam napping. He wondered if he should try to wake him.

Luckily for Peter (possibly), it only took another minute before Sam woke up, looking disoriented for a moment.

Peter reached to gently touch Sam's arm. He looked Sam over, trying to find any signs of trouble. "You okay?"

Sam's first, immediate, ingrained thought was to say that he was fine, but he'd promised Peter that he'd be more honest with him. "I don't know," he said, frowning as he glanced at the clock.

"Did you have another nightmare?" Peter asked. He kept his voice as soft and gentle as his touch, so as to not jar Sam as he woke up.

"I...sort of?" Sam said. "It was just a dream. I was in the Town Hall with a bunch of other people and--I swear, it was like the longest dream ever. But it wasn't really a nightmare." Even being more honest, he was still trying to hide how worried he felt.

"A vision?" Peter guessed. He moved his hand lightly up and down Sam's arm, keeping contact with him to help give him something to focus on. "Something that'll happen in the future?"

"I don't know. They don't hurt," Sam said, smiling softly. "You'd think that'd be a good thing."

"Eat anything different lately?" Peter asked. Teasing in the hopes of encouraging Sam's smile, he added, "You haven't been eating someone else's donuts have you?"

That did get a smile out of Sam, and a hint of a laugh too. "No, you're my sole donut supplier, I swear," he said.

"There goes that theory." Peter moved his hand down to try to cover Sam's. "Anything I can do to help? Besides coffee and donuts?"

"You're here, cheering me up. That helps a lot," Sam said. "Maybe...tell me I'm not going crazy?"

"You aren't," Peter said. "Least not so far as I can tell. Besides, you know the odds are always on it being some Fandom-related thing."

"Yeah, I know," Sam admitted. "That doesn't mean I like when the Fandom-related things affect me."

"I'd beat up Fandom for you if I could," Peter told him.

Sam snickered at that. "Gee, thanks. My great protector."

"And your healer," Peter reminded him.

"Luckily, I don't need that now. It's kind of nice to see things and not pay for it when I wake up."

"Maybe your powers are evolving?" Peter suggested, ever the optimist.

"Do you really think that could happen?" Sam asked, willing to be optimistic as well.

"Of course," Peter said. "Mine have, why not yours?"

"'Cause...I don't know, mine isn't cool like yours is," Sam said.

"I thought you were supposed to be the smarter one of us two," Peter replied with a grin.

"I am smarter," Sam insisted. "Logically, if my visions haven't changed that much over the course of all this time...I don't know, I guess it's still possible. It would be nice to skip the headaches."

"We'll talk about this again when you're 30," Peter told him. "I'll try not to be too smug when I say 'told you so'."

Sam could have rolled his eyes at that, but the idea of Peter still being around when he was 30 gave him another warm feeling, and he smiled instead. "All right, I'll remember that we have to talk about this."

"Good." Peter went in to seal the promise of their future with a kiss.
