Journalism Class - Friday October 14

Spider is wearing a broad grin as his students file in this morning. The side wall of the classroom has been mocked up to look like a stage with two large doors, each bearing a number, and a curtain at the end. The cat is playing with something that is making helpless and panicked 'ribbit' noises beneath the edge of the curtain, and Spider himself is sitting atop his desk, legs crossed.

"Good morning, students!" He greets the class cheerfully. "As no one saw fit to come up with a project for Parent's Weekend as of yet, I thought that today would be Student Appreciation Day. One of the other faculty left the television on in the lounge the other day and I saw a show which I thought it might be fun to emulate."

Spider gestured toward the stage. "Every student gets to pick. You may choose Door Number One, Door Number Two or pick, instead, what's behind the curtain. Everyone gets a prize of some sort and a good time will be had by me all. Really."

Still grinning broadly, he lit up a cigarette and propped his chin in one hand. "Who'll be first, then?"

Behind Door Number One
Behind Door Number Two
Behind The Curtain

NOTE: There was nothing said about not being able to trade your prize for a different one or sharing your prize with your classmates (save what's behind door number one, which can't be shared, really).

Please Post Reactions Here

OOC: There will be threads posted for each choice. Comment in the appropriate thread. At the end of the day, (so that people can't choose once the answers have been leaked) three links will appear here, each to a locked post in Spider's journal, the results filtered solely to the students who chose each option. Reactions, arguments, 'wtf-ing' and the rest will please take place here in this entry, not the filtered posts. Have fun guessing what Spider might consider a marvelous prize for his students.

George notices Phoebe casting glances over her shoulder every few moments. She looks over her own should and turns back around with a furrowed brow? What the hell?

Phoebe catches George's look and mouths "stalker".

George raises her brows, surprised. Stalker, huh? she thinks. Thought that was what Jayne was for.

Phoebe looks around and hands George the note she had gotten earlier.

The card reads:

Phoebe, why are you being such a stubborn little witch? Does his safety mean nothing to you? What about your own?

A Friend

George held her breath for a moment after reading the card. She jotted down a quick message on her notebook and angled it so Phoebe could read.

This refers to Jayne?

Phoebe shrugs and does the same with her notebook.

I don't know, but I plan to talk to Jayne about it so he can keep himself safe, just in case.

George can't help but smirk. Shouldn't be much of an issue for HIM. she writes, underlining "HIM" three times, before flashing the note at Phoebe.

I worry about the people I care about. Please, YOU be careful, too?

Already dead, remember? George shrugs and points to herself.

So? Look where we go to school. Phoebe indicates the classroom.

I promise...I'll do whatever I have to do to make sure Jayne doesn't get hurt. If I have to move out to protect him... Phoebe looks upset and sad about this whole thing.

He won't like like that much. George shook her head at Phoebe and added, He can take care of himself.

I don't like that much, either. I like it there. I feel safe there. Phoebe nods. I know he can. I just don't like making trouble for him.

Talk to him FIRST. George scribbles a heavy underline beneath "FIRST."

Phoebe nods and smiles, looking sheepish. Oh yes! I've learned my lesson about just assuming things before talking to him about it. She smiles faintly at George. Besides, you'd probably kick my ass if I didn't tell him what was going on. This time her smile is bright and friendly.

George gives her a quick, relieved nod and smiles back.

I wanted to tell you first what was going on. She pointed to one of the flowers she received from George that was sticking out of her backpack. I'm trying to learn to be a better friend.

George can't help but feel guilty. "Yeah, me too." she murmurs.

Phoebe gives her a sharp look and then writes something down in her notebook with great determination.

No. Don't you dare feel guilty. I'm happy for both of you. Phoebe underlines that last sentence. I'm just thankful I didn't lose his friendship. She looks at George with a smile and then adds. Also glad I gained a new friend.

George is surprised, but pleased. Thanks, Phoebe. I'm glad, too.
