Practical Weaponry [Wednesday, Period Four]

Upon entering the Danger Shop, the class would have found it set up to resemble the outskirts of a Madagascan marketplace. Bond leaned against a wall on the second story of a dilapidated building overlooking a crowd intent on betting on the outcome of some sort of animal fight. In the distance they would have been able to see a construction site.

Once the class had joined him in the building Bond began. "Good afternoon, class. Today we'll be looking at parkour, which is the art of getting from one place to another as quickly, directly, and efficiently as possible, regardless of the obstacles in your path. While this may not immediately sound like a weapon, practical or otherwise, any other skill you may learn in this class will be useless if you cannot get to or away from a given fight in time."

He nodded in the direction of the crowd. "In this exercise, you will take turns playing the role of an MI-6 agent, who along with your partner in the crowd is observing a bomb-maker with the intent to capture," Bond said, indicating a man in the crowd. The burn scars on his face made it clear which of the two he was supposed to be. "However, your partner managed to raise his suspicions and he's about to flee the scene. Given that your partner is currently trying to avoid a cobra bite, it's up to you to give chase and apprehend the bomb-maker."

"Your main tools in this exercise will be your wits and your environment, but you will also be armed with one of these." Bond held up a handgun. "This is a Walther P99. Semi-automatic handgun, nine millimetre calibre, fifteen rounds in the magazine. However, given that your objective is to capture the bomb-maker alive, you are to use it only as last resort, and if you shoot anyone who is not a direct and immediate threat, you will fail the exercise."

"So, who wants to go first?"

[ooc: wait for ocd up.]

The marketplace. Familiar ground for one T.R. Wexler. She took off after the bomb-maker, thinking he better have some fancy footwork, because she knew her way around a bargain and a bazaar.

Turtle would be lying if she said that she didn't think of the bulldozer. Especially since she took drivers' ed with Mr. Bond. But a bulldozer was pretty freakin' obvious, and she felt like she'd want to be more a subtle type, so she was making the scramble over the fence as quickly as she could.

Jaina couldn't help frowning through the lecture. She'd just done something like this for real, and was still smarting from it.

"...Maybe," Karla grumped. Dinah might be right, Karla might be morally obligated to admit that, but there was no force in all the Realms she could name that could make her be graceful about it.

Kyle wasn't used to so many people, but boy could he run like the wind. He kept sight of his target and even gained some ground on him as they ploughed through the marketplace.

Kyle didn't give the bulldozer a second look. By home rules, the chances of it actually having gas and working were slim. Luckily, he could scale the fence almost as fast as the bomber, which he promptly did without a second thought.

Thank you, years of experience with navigating an urban wasteland. Kyle scrambled up after him. He knew he had to keep up long enough for the other guy to make a mistake or for the environment to offer some kind of opportunity for Kyle to take.

Re: The Cranes - PW [Week 2]

And up and up Kyle went. He was a little more hesitant now. Higher meant there was more of a chance of structural damage on the crane, and that was one hell of a fall. The bomb-maker gained some distance.

"This guy doesn't quit," Kyle muttered to himself and started to climb down the cherrypicker instead of using the controls. He was down pretty quickly and after the van.

"Crap." She'd kind of thought that would be the answer. "Was there a way out that I missed, that didn't involve killing someone deliberately?"

Re: The Embassy - PW [Week 2]

[identity profile] weetinyreese.livejournal.com 2009-07-16 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Kyle didn't know what the purpose of an embassy was, but he knew a secure facility when he saw one. Some dodging of cameras and laying low later and he was in. He managed to sneak up on the bomb-maker, but not before he drew the attention of every damned guard in the area.

Kyle pointed the gun at the bomb-maker's head, keeping his newly found prisoner in between him and all of the people with the guns.

But there was no way out and he'd learned his lesson about shooting things to get them to explode - it didn't work so well. He backed away from the guards with the bomb-maker, edging towards the gate.

"There has to be a way out," Kyle said, getting straight to the point. "How do you do it?"

Kyle might have blown up an embassy, but it definitely wasn't used as an embassy anymore. Anyway, he was there, if a little out of breath from the exercise.

Dinah paused, arrested, and said, "That propane tank-- and I had a gun." She facepalmed and muttered, "I never have a gun. But I had a gun this time, and that would've been perfect, I could've ... damnit."

It took Kyle a second to process. "You blow them up with some gas and a handgun?"
