Loki decided to hold class outside, around the main campfire for maximum, well, maximum campfire experience. He really didn't know what the fuck that meant other than he wanted to be outside and not cooped up in a classroom. If the students didn't like roughing it, oh fucking well. That was why he had the authority.

"All right," he started once everyone seemed to have filed in, "I see some familiar faces and some faces I don't recognize. So, if you don't know me, I'm Loki, I'm your teacher and if you didn't sign up for this class, don't tell me that because I'll have to make fun of you."

And he would too.

"Anyway, if you're expecting to do battle with swords or learn to fly or shit like that, you're gonna be sadly bored in this class because that's not what it's about. This class is about dealing with all the little shit that you encounter in everyday life that can put a major fucking cramp in your day. It's stuff that no one thinks about until it fucking ruins their plans because they had no idea how to fucking get past it. This class will teach you how to get past certain things, how to deal with certain things and how to be fucking awesome while doing it."

He just threw that last part in, of course. He was always awesome.

"Today, though, we'll start off slow. We'll do introductions so I know who the hell you are and what the hell you're doing here. Name, age, and last time you bought fucking condoms." He thought of leaving it there but, well, he didn't need to get in trouble. "If you don't want to tell anyone that, just tell us the last time something embarrassing happened to you that you didn't know how to deal with. Sound good? Right." He paused and looked around the assembled mass before picking two people at random. "And you two," he said, pointing to George and Elena, "are the TA's. Congratulations. Don't you just love random fucking selection? Anyway, intros. Go."

With that, he leaned back and waited to hear the class intros.

"Because you don't need them or you haven't had the chance to use them?" he wondered. If she didn't offer up an embarrassing factoid, he'd just ask personal questions.

"I haven't bought any," she clarified. "I have used them. Or more precisely, my partners did, I suppose."

"So, what happens if you find yourself with a partner that doesn't have any and you don't either?" he wondered.

Helen tilted her head. "Someone here showed me a few other very interesting things that can be done without them, even if they are not quite as satisfying. However, I never said I didn't have any, merely that I hadn't bought any. There are other ways to acquire them. Which was necessary when I chose to seduce two of the priests back home."

"You seduced priests?" Ugh, fucking religion was just fucked in other worlds. Here too but Loki chose to ignore that. "Interesting hobby."

She shrugged. "I was raised by them since I was five and when I came of age I wished to know what sex was like. The first experience was... less than pleasant, but as I was always told one should always try things at least twice I did so before giving it up as a bad deal."

Loki made a face but shook it away quickly. "First times are never fucking pleasant. You have fun with that hobby now."

"I have had better luck here," she said with a smile. "But I think I'll avoid priests from now on."

"It seems most people have had better luck here." This island was just teeming with hormones. "So, congratulations."

"Thank you," she said politely. "Does that mean you have as well?"

Social skills? Not her strongest point.

"You're asking me about my personal life?" he asked, amused. "Do you really wanna know or you have another reason?"

She tilted her head to look up at him questioningly. "I do admit to being curious since you brought up most people having better luck here. What other reason might I have?"

"I was more talking about the reports on the radio about how often people hook up in this fucking place," he explained. "My personal life's just gonna be personal for now. Teacher authority and all."

"Ah, yes," Helen said nodding. "I rarely listen to that thing. And, of course, the priests used the authority thing when they chose not to answer questions as well, so I'm quite used to it."

To her mind at least, there was no rudeness there, merely an expression of fact. Others, however...

~~And the Mun is facepalming.~~

"Or I just don't want you to fucking know," he retorted with a raise of his eyebrow. "You chose to answer my question. You could have refused. You didn't. Your choice. Not mine. I'm not one of your fucking priests."

Her eyes widened. "Refusal to answer a teacher is a choice here?"

"You don't wanna answer me, I'm not going to force an answer out of you," Loki said. "I might press or cajole but even I can't make you talk."

"If I had needed proof you were unlike the priests of my world, that would do it," Helen said. "Refusal was never an option for long. Not if you valued your life and a relatively pain-free existence."

"Yeah, I'm not a priest and I'm not going to hurt anyone." Anyone that didn't deserve it, that is. "So, don't worry. Answer or don't answer, I'm not going to fucking hurt anyone."

Helen nodded. "Thank you very much, then," she said sincerely.
