Deep Thoughts Club

Anakin sat in Professor Ted's classroom and waited to see who else might show up for the informational meeting of the ~~Emo Brooders~~ Deep Thoughts Club.

He snacked on one of the Twinkies left over from the day's music classes. A sugar high might not lead to deep thoughts, but it's hard to resist the siren call of yellow cake and cream.

Anakin looked up guiltily from the Twinkie he had been snacking on.

"Sorry, Professor. I didn't notice you there. Tonight's the first meeting of Deep Thoughts, and the dorms were being insanely loud. Do you mind if we meet here?"

"Ohhhh, riiiight. I totally forgot about that, dude. You guys can meet here every week if you want. Uh, but not on hockey nights, Mondays I think, because I kinda promised some other dudes they could use the room. But tonight's good! If it's not Monday. It's not Monday already, is it?"

"No, sir, it's not Monday yet." Anakin refrained from asking what hockey was.

"Excellent! I didn't sleep through the weekend!" Ted dropped down into a chair next to Anakin and propped his feet up on the table he and Bill ~~stole~~ borrowed from ~~King Arthur~~ some medieval English dude. "So, this club thing? If you want, I know this guy, So-Crates. He wears a dress, but he's totally deep. He could stop by one week if you want."

"So-Crates?" Anakin thought about it. The name didn't ring a bell but the professor seemed enthuastic. "Sounds good. Thank you, sir."

"Dude, you totally don't have to call me 'sir'. You can call me Ted!"

Anakin smiled. "All right, Ted. Hamlet and I are trying to come with ways that ~~we can using brooding to score dates~~ make this club beneficial to the greater Fandom High population. Do you have any ideas?"

Ted looked deeply pensive for a good minute. "Babes, dude. Babes dig the deep thinker guys. At least, that's what they told me when I asked them out. They said I wasn't enough of a deep thinker. And look at me now! But, uh, yeah. You could totally use this club to, like, think and then, um, work on your reputation and image and stuff and do the ladies of Fandom High a favor and let them date you deep thinker dudes." He nodded, happy with that response. "Yeah!"

"That's good." Anakin looked at the ground for a moment, then glanced around the rest of the classroom. "I hear they also like musicians, though. I can't play anything more complicated than the radio the Pirate comes out of. Do you think you could help me out?"

"Totally! Do you have anything in mind? Babes totally dig bass players, and the bass guitar is like the easiest instrument in the world to learn."

Anakin smiled. "That sounds good. I mean, there's this instrument back on my home planet that beings put around the banthas that's similar to a cowbell here, but I'm pretty sure I can live a happy and fulfilled life never having someone yell 'more banthabell' at me."

I've never played an instrument either. I've taunted people that they cannot play me like a pipe, but I've never actually played one myself. I have done a bit of triangle, I suppose, but that was only in jest.

[OOC: LOL banthabell! XD]

[OOC: The idea of Hamlet playing the triangle kills me. "More banthabell, Padawan!" Mwahah.]

"Excellent. I think between guest speakers and learning to play instuments ~~to pick up chicks with~~ to better express our deep emotions, we have a good reason for a club."

"Totally. Uh, do you want to learn during these club times, or private lessons? Totally up to you dude. I'm here all the time anyway."

Anakin looked at Hamlet. "What do you think? During meetings? Not every meeting, but maybe like a couple times a month?"

That would be fine with me. It would be nice to pursue a concrete goal in these ~~emofests~~ meetings.

So-Crates? ...you mean, Socrates, the ancient Greek philosopher who was accused of being a bad influence on the youth of his time? But he lived back during the days of antiquity. Surely he's been dead for millennia. ~~Unless he's also one of those undead folk we've had popping up at this school.~~

Yeah, So-Crates! That's him dude. He *does* live in Ancient Greece, but um, me and my ~~hetero life-mate~~ friend Bill got this phone booth that time travels from this dude from the future named Rufus. While I'm teaching here, Bill's bogeying around in it, but I can totally call him and get him to drop So-Crates off for the night. He's a total party animal.

*Tries to reconcile what Horatio's taught him about Socratic philosophy with the phrase "total party animal". Fails. Tries to grasp the idea of a time traveling phone both. Accepts it in light of what other things there are at this school, but wonders why they would pick a phone booth instead of something more sensible like an 80s sports car.*

If you would, I'd be most appreciative. I'd like to hold a discussion with Socrates. ~~And then taunt my best friend with that fact.~~

Sure dude. I'll try to get him next week. He might be busy, though. He's got classes to teach too ~~and a government to piss off~~.

Not here, but as my brief experience in the Land of Perpetual Wednesdays on the weekend taught me, it must be Monday somewhere.

"Perpetual Wednesdays?" Anakin shuddered. "Sounds horrible."

It was. People agreed to help me find a way back to this universe, but would only schedule it in for Thursday.

"That's just cruel."

Dude. That's deep.
