As the class headed in today, they'd find the usual clearing set up in the Danger Shop had a little village near it this time, though they were on its outskirts, with the usual choices of weaponry and armourments available to the students. Minsc clasped his hands together with a loud sound to get things started.

"Hullo!" he said. "It is our last day! So let's do some rangering!"

He made a sweeping gesture toward the village. "Random Village here has been having some problems! These problems seem to be of a distinctly creature-like manner, making you, as a ranger, before for the task of vanquishing it! From here, you are on your own! ....Unless you decide to partner up, you can do that too, or even work in a group if you'd like! I like groups of six myself. But! From here, you can go into the village and ask around for clues on what is happening. Or you may stay here in the woods and put your tracking skills to use! Or both! It never hurts to use all the resources available to you!"

"I will tell you one thing," Minsc said, "the source of this problem has with it a treasure! The point of the final, then, if to find the source, stop the problem, find the treasure, and then bring it back to me. If you do not find the treasure, but have a grand story of adventure instead, that is also acceptable."

"Now go forth!" he barked. "And ranger away!"

Ah, but of course Prince Edward stopped in at a local tavern first. "Good day, barwench! A mug of your finest ale!" He then glanced around, searching faces. It was information he sought, and he very well planned to get it! Ah-hah!

One fine holographic all coming up! And the barkeep eyed Prince Edward as his serving girl set it in front of him, cleaning out a perpetually dirty mug as he asked, "You're not from 'round these parts, are ya?"

Prince Edward eyed this man back. "I am not!" he replied evenly, if not loudly. "I seek a ~~beautiful girl, my one coquette, the answer to my love's duet~~ person of interest, peasant. A person with information." He leaned forward, and narrowed his eyes.

"Ain't nothin'," the barkeep said, pausing a moment to make an expertly sonorous ring come from a brass spittoon as he hacked something into it, "go through this town without me hearin' about it, boy. This ain't about the recent trouble in these parts, is it?"

Ew. That was plain nasty. Edward leaned back, brushing imaginary hacking ickery from the fine cut of his princely attire.

"It most certainly is. Tell me what you know," he demanded. Firmly. "I have come to help. Ah-hah!"

"You and a load of others," said the barkeep. "We see 'em come in, tell them about the disappearances, and then they disappear themselves."

Hack. Pew! Another perfect spit shot.

"I assure you I shall not disappear. I am a prince, after all!"

He made a face. "That is a rather nasty habit."

Ick. Ick. Ick.

"Where do these disappearances occure?"

"What's rather nasty habit?" the barkeep spat again. "Bein' a prince? Can't help that; born into it. I won't hold it against ya. And they happen all over the place. Mostly young damsels. Some of 'em young men, too."

"That," he said pointing. "That... that spit thing you do. I wish you cease in my presence, peasant." He would not say that ten times fast, thank you very much. "Might you know who or what is doing this kidnapping of young fair maidens?" A beat. "And men?" Who would kidnap a man? Or what man would allow his person to be taken?

Hmm.

The barkeep just looked at Prince Edward for a moment, chewed on something that was probably best not identified, and spit again, very pointedly. Or as pointedly as spit could get.

"Don't know," he said. "They say there's orcs around, though."

Ewewew. He leaned far back from that nasty stream of - he didn't even want to think about what it could be.

"Orcs?" His eyes narrowed and he reached into his purse and set a gold coin on the bartop. "What do they look like, these orcs?"

There was a pause.

"Like orcs."

Helpful barkeep was helpful!

Ahhh, yes. The peasant meant ogre! Of course!

Prince Edward smiled with much smugness. "Where might one roam if one wishes to be kidnapped by these..." silly peasant "...orcs?"

"The woods outside might be a good place to start." The barkeep now appeared to be picking his nose. Charming fellow that he was. He took a moment to inspect what he extracted before wiping it ceremoniously on his shirt. "S'where a lot of the young maidens go to pick flowers."

"...probably some o' the lads, too."
