my life as a buddy movie | period 2 | wednesday | june 24

Loki knew it was the last day of class and, while he'd thought of treating the class to something, he decided against it because he was a damn lazy bastard and he got up too late to actually get anything. The class had been handwavily notified to meet in the Danger Shop just to make things easier.

"So, it's the last class," he said from his spot at the front of the room, "and you've all survived. Not that there was a chance you wouldn't but still, it's good to see. I don't really have anything planned for your final exam because it's hard to test your skills in working together subjectively. So, you get off easy."

Well, not that easy.

"That doesn't mean you can fucking leave or anything, oh no," he continued. "You're still stuck with doing something, you're just not going to get graded on it. Since you've been working together all term, today, you get to work against each other. Today, you're going to joust! So, have fun and thanks for coming to class every week. Hope you learned something and if you didn't, it was your fucking fault and not mine."

Always displacing blame.

"Hope to see a few of you next semester." Like he'd be giving up a sweet teaching gig.

[ocd is up and class is ready to go!]

Not graded? Griff had never fathomed a school could be quite like this. And yet he'd made it through the session.

Raven was becoming distressed by how violent her classes were today. First shooting guns, now this? She would abstain again due to her pacifist upbringing.

Maron raised her hand. "What if we don't want to joust?"

"Because there's too much chance of someone getting hurt, and it looks like a rather painful activity," she said, with a nod. "And I'd rather not hurt someone, or have someone hurt me, even if it's just a game."

She shrugged. "It's still violent," Maron pointed out, "and in encouraging violence, it ups the odds of someone getting hurt."

"None," she said, with a roll of her eyes--why did everyone say that? "A joust was originally used for violence, and however inflatable," just in case he thought she'd forgotten again, "it's the same, on a lesser scale."

...

Oh, Maron.

"I'm well aware that being a pacifist is the minority here," she said, making a face at him. "I'll avoid those classes, and thank you."

She grinned at him. "I'll do that!"

Fiona was in a lovely mood after everything yesterday and so the prospect of something like this didn't even bother her. She fiddled absently with the blue sapphire around her neck; she'd chosen to wear it today mostly because of the weekend's visit.

Fiona looked up with a blink, more than a little surprised to have the teacher's attention when not being, well, annoying.

"It... belonged to my father's cousin."

The sapphire was the size of an egg, cut irregularly in a way that made the light act strangely within it. It hung from the simple cord she'd put it on, as Beelzebub's choice of chain had seemed gaudy to her.

Also, the thought of putting it around her neck had been mildly repulsive.

"Not quite," she admitted, glancing up at him carefully.

"He and my dad don't exactly get along. Didn't, I mean."

She almost told him that she couldn't say for certain, that she didn't know what it was or what it could be, but after a moment she just nodded.

She was reasonably sure, considering how he'd worn it, that it had been something personal to Beelzebub. The fact that it'd shrunk from the fist-sized jewel down to it's current state, well, she had no idea what it meant. But definitely one of a kind.

"Let's just say he didn't part with it willingly," Fiona said after a moment, figuring that if her teacher had something to say about it, well, best to get it over with.

"He parted with a few things."

The necklace. His head. His power. She'd only been responsible for two out of three, but all the same.

"I'm just keeping that side of my heritage in mind," she told him honestly.

...no grading means that Jack totally passed with flying colors. Score!
