my life as a buddy movie | period 2 | wednesday | june 24

Loki knew it was the last day of class and, while he'd thought of treating the class to something, he decided against it because he was a damn lazy bastard and he got up too late to actually get anything. The class had been handwavily notified to meet in the Danger Shop just to make things easier.

"So, it's the last class," he said from his spot at the front of the room, "and you've all survived. Not that there was a chance you wouldn't but still, it's good to see. I don't really have anything planned for your final exam because it's hard to test your skills in working together subjectively. So, you get off easy."

Well, not that easy.

"That doesn't mean you can fucking leave or anything, oh no," he continued. "You're still stuck with doing something, you're just not going to get graded on it. Since you've been working together all term, today, you get to work against each other. Today, you're going to joust! So, have fun and thanks for coming to class every week. Hope you learned something and if you didn't, it was your fucking fault and not mine."

Always displacing blame.

"Hope to see a few of you next semester." Like he'd be giving up a sweet teaching gig.

[ocd is up and class is ready to go!]

"Have you met Louis?" she asked very very carefully.

"He's been, um, indisposed for about sixteen years."

"Dad probably didn't know you were here then," she said, looking up at Loki, "or he might have stopped to say hello. He came for the convention."

"You make my brain itch," she told him honestly. It was a 'yes'.

"Are you... no, you've been here since before my birthday this year. Just kind of happened. This going to be a problem?"

Her fingers curled in against her palm; they couldn't be called fists, though.

"I don't want to harm anyone," she told him firmly. One hand uncurled and she reached up to touch the sapphire.

"He was going to take my brother, and he wanted to kill me and my dad. I didn't do this" and she put the sapphire between her fingers "because I wanted to."

Finally, she looked up at him.

"I'm kinda clueless about most of this. Mother's rules. But... no problem from me."

...he probably wasn't expecting the blink.

"Angel of death?"

She knew about the simian tendency to 'smile', or show teeth, when uncomfortable and so the smile she gave was genuine but not precisely amused.

In short, SO not talking about her Mother right now. SO not.

"Okay. My, um, my dad's been out of things for a few years. So if that trouble is recent, it's probably not his fault. Or... you know what I mean. I hope."

No, no, her mother wasn't any Angel. Her situation was quite a bit different.

"I'm sure. My mother is... complicated."

Which was said in a way as to indicate not that she didn't want to talk about it, but that it was probably best she didn't talk about it here. Quirking her lips to one side, she considered what to say, and the fact that she had a class activity to do whether or not he graded things.

"Can I-- could I talk to you sometime? About this stuff? No one's told us anything, and we weren't allowed to read about it either. All I've got are a few names and, well, this."

The necklace.

Of course she could have asked her father, but she knew she'd be getting a very skewed perspective from him. And her mother? Even moreso.

She probably looked more thankful than one might expect. Her nod was quick, a combination of nerves and excitement, and as an afterthought, she tucked the necklace into her shirt. It wasn't that she'd been baiting him so much as that she was now aware that others could tell it was more than something to wear.

"Okay. Okay, thanks. I really appreciate it."

She tipped her head to the jousting area.

"I should, um, probably get to that."
