Art of Seduction [Wednesday, Period Four]

Today's class was actually in a classroom, Bond stood next to large whiteboard as he waited for the class to arrive, looking slightly more chipper than usual.

"Good afternoon class," Bond began. "Today we were going to discuss first dates, but then I remembered just how a really good first date can end, and I decided it might be worthwhile to skip ahead slightly to make sure that if you do have such a date, that it has a happy ending. For both of you."

He paused a moment and then continued for the benefit of the entendre-impaired "I am, of course, talking about sex." Bond then proceeded to give concise, yet informative, explanations of the basic mechanics for both heterosexual and homosexual couples, using stick figure diagrams to illustrate some of the more popular positions for each.

"While the details of a person's sex life, or lack thereof, varies from individual to individual, one thing that everyone who has or is thinking of having sex should keep in mind is safe sex," Bond said, his tone serious as he began another series of diagrams. "Now, there are a variety of methods that can be utilised for safer sex. For example there is hormonal contraception, intrauterine devices, making sure your partner isn't working for a criminal syndicate, and a variety of barrier methods."

"One of the more highly recommended methods of contraception is the condom," Bond said, pointing to a particular diagram. "Not least because it is one of the few methods that prevent STDs as well as unwanted pregnancy. To help demonstrate the importance of proper contraception, we will be watching a short film on the subject, after which you may go, or stay to discuss the class with your fellow students."

You know, if you can't look Bond in the eye after the stick figures.

Jack was around and wondering if he could possibly get away with asking Emma a few questions.

Somehow, that turned into thinking about how pretty Emma was. Which turned into thinking about how rugged Professor Bond was.

... Jack might not be much use for the rest of class.

At one point Emma sighed, balled up a piece of paper, and threw it at the back of Jack's head. Just because.

Yes, telling him directly to cut it out would be faster, but this was more fun.

Jack made a face at Emma and mouthed "What?"

If he'd been halfway mindful, he would have known what.

Emma just crossed her arms and Looked at him, trying to keep from smirking.

Jack raised an eyebrow and leaned toward her. "If you keep looking at me like that, Miss Frost, I'm going to have to conclude you're thinking something untoward."

"I'm always thinking something untoward, Mr. Priest. The question is usually who I'm offending this time," Emma replied smartly. "Please keep all hands, feet, objects, and forward thoughts to yourself at all times, if you don't mind."

"Or, if you have something to ask, ask it before you get distracted by something shiny again. I'm not picking through your brain to answer things you forget to ask."

"It wasn't that forward," Jack groused, but he made himself quit thinking about the physical appearance of anyone in the classroom nonetheless. It was ungentlemanly.

"Oh -- do you understand how courtship works here? Other than the things Professor Bond just spoke on. I have a grasp of those particular mechanics."

"No, it wasn't, but I got your attention, didn't I?" Emma asked, smiling at him brightly.

His question made her smile falter for a split second, before she managed to smooth it over. "I don't exactly date, but I do know how the game is played," she answered. "I'm guessing it's a bit different from what you're used to?"

"You don't need to throw paper to get my attention," Jack said. Ahem. He cleared his throat, almost entirely unnecessarily. "And yes, entirely different." A pause. "We don't need to talk about it if you don't want to."

"No," Emma murmured, smirking at him in amusement. "I do believe that I had your attention before that, didn't I? Just not quite in the way that I needed."

No. Bad Emma. Down.

"It's fine, really," she assured him. "I'll answer as much as I can, but I might not be the best girl to ask about some of it. I'm a bit less... romantic...than many of my peers."

"It would be my pleasure to give you any kind of attention you wanted." (Really, Jack, cartoon anvils have been less subtle.)

"That's why I asked you, though. I don't need to hear about romance." He considered his first question carefully. "I'm just curious why everyone is so concerned with boyfriends and girlfriends."

"Territory?" Emma answered with a shrug. "That's my best guess, anyway."

"Personally, if I were sleeping with someone, I'd at least want to know where else they're playing. I don't want to end up some disease just because they made a poor choice with a different partner."

"Well, it's just rude to spread diseases around, if you know what causes them," Jack decided. "But that was my question -- you are allowed multiple playmates, if you're honest? At home everyone is so discreet that you'd never be expected to talk about it."

Honestly, Jack missed that a little.

"Let's just say it's a bit more encouraged in boys than girls," Emma said dryly. "If I tried it, they'd call me a slut at best. But for some reason, it's considered acceptable for guys to have multiple conquests."

"Most people sanitize by saying they're 'seeing multiple people' or something similar, dress it up as non-exclusive dating, but it's all the same thing."

"That's what Alice was" --- rabbiting on about was unfair --"talking about, then, during the multicultural fair. I'm not exactly oblivious." He thought there were reasons for it, but it wasn't an argument he wanted to have. Something about today fought against arguing.

"And just from what people have told me, I take it they've stopped throwing men in jail for sodomy."

"If they tried that, half the school would be in jail," Emma laughed. "It's still not widely accepted, depending on where you are, but it's not against the law anymore. At least, not in the States or in Europe, but it might still be a crime in some other parts of the world, I think."

"Honestly, anyone who gets pissy about a girl having fun is usually just jealous, but we're easier targets than men," she sighed. "We don't hit quite as hard."

"Good thing I'm not planning on going to other parts of the world, then," Jack said, so quickly and softly the confession (that's what it felt like) might be missed. "Thank you. That's ... helpful."

He grinned at her. "So I take it you don't want me to defend your honor, should the subject arise?"

"I'm not even kissing anyone," Emma muttered grumpily. "If my honor still needs defending, then there's a problem."

"And if you tell anyone I said that, I will hit you." Which was a confession of her own, of sorts, if Jack had the wit to pick up on it. He'd trusted her with his question, so she was willing to reciprocate in her own way.

"As if gossip ever respected an inconvenient thing like facts," Jack told her, following along -- more or less. He thought. "And I can keep a secret. You know that."

"That's true," she replied, letting the neutral answer serve for both statements. "Any other burning questions I can answer for you, Mr. Priest? Or have I managed to satisfy you for today?"

Innuendo totally intended.

"I'm not sure there's any further satisfaction I can have in class, Miss Frost," Jack said.

Innuendo dripping from his tone.

"...but I'll be sure to find my way to you should anything else arise."

Can't laugh in class, can't laugh in class...

"That's a failure of imagination on your part," Emma sighed, shaking her head mournfully as she let the barest wisp of her power reach out and tap some of those happy thoughts he'd been having earlier.

Telepath, Jack. Really. Constraining Emma to the here-and-now of the physical plane was like trying to make a cat bark, or a fish fetch.

Not that she had a clue of what she'd do, if he called her bluff.

"Although I'm sure you can find me if anything comes up."

Oooh. Those were nice thoughts. Jack shivered like a puppy. "I'm in 222," he told her, hopefully. "You can certainly find me, too."

Emma was there, and desperately trying to hide her alternating amusement and annoyance with the rest of the class.

Honestly.
