Beach Play - Tuesday - Period 5

Today Marshall had everyone meet out by the volleyball nets on the beach.

Guess what they were going to do today?

"If the nets weren't a dead giveaway, today we're going to play volleyball. It's a pretty simple game and we're not even going to be playing the serious business volleyball with the rotations and crap they make you play in gym." That always confused him. "Volleyball is a good way to show off your athletic prowess to people you're attracted to and it's an excuse to nail people you don't like with a hard ball. Not dirty."

Marshall spent a couple minutes going over the rules of the game for those who weren't familiar with it before breaking out a whistle from his pocket and blowing it loudly. "Okay! So I've been told that I get kind of, well, insane coaching things so I'm not going to make you all play an actual game. I just have the whistle out because they're fun to blow. Not dirty."

"I just want you split up into pairs and practice serving and hitting the balls to each other. Not dirty," he said. God, what was with the dirty lecture today? "After you've worked up a sweat feel free to take a dip in the ocean."

He blew the whistle again for funsies. "Let's get going!"

Eleanor listened carefully to the rules but couldn't help wonder why Professor Ericksen seemed to have an obsession with things being dirty. Maybe he didn't like dirt?

The prospect of a ball being smacked at him wasn't quite what Merlin had wanted. At all.

He was almost certain this wasn't even a proper sport.

Volleyball was something Hannibal was pretty good at. Or, well, he'd played it a few times and been good so he considered that an indicator of his all around prowess.

Until he had a partner, Edward was practicing with a ball. And this was made so much easier by the fact that his face was completely healed and his nose no longer crooked!

Eleanor was looking around for someone to pair up with. She thought she had a good idea of the rules of the game, but some practice wouldn't hurt.

Wading was about all Eleanor was doing. Perhaps it was because she still wasn't quite used to the ocean or perhaps it was just that she still wasn't entirely comfortable with swimming.

Or maybe it was just that Fire Mages weren't too keen on being in that much water.

Jess was so very glad that he only had to supervise the volleyball games, and not actually play. He was seriously hoping no one would get clocked in the head or anything.
