Fashion! Releasing Your Inner Superhero, etc. [Thursday, May 21, 1st period]

"Today we will begin the most important part of your costumes!" Edna announced as she wheeled in a hanging rack full of spandex body suits. Oh, you lucky people, you. (Don't ask how that last one snuck in there. It had been a Very Terrible Costume Concept.) "Measurements!"

She ignored any horrified looks or attempts to hide under tables. "Ms. Davis, my assistant," she nodded at Brooke, "and I will be measuring you so that the costumes you create for yourselves will fit! While you are waiting, come up with two preliminary concepts for your ensemble--include your logo from last week on one of them--and then ask a fellow student to critique!"

She made shooing motions. "Go! Scatter! Create!" She pointed at one student at random. "Except you. You get to wear Spandex first, darling."

Momoko was torn - yes she'd have a designer costume, but it would be spandex. Spandex wasn't... pretty. She stepped up to be measured.

"Uhm, is the whole costume going to be made of spandex? Is that all there is? Just a body suit?"

"No capes," Edna said as she stepped onto her stool. "But there will be footwear. Possibly a mask....I'll need to see your sketches."

"No capes?" Not that she'd been thinking of one. Really. Just because her favourite tv hero wore one or anything. "What's wrong with capes? Even if it's a cute cape? Really super fashionable and cute?"

"No capes!" Edna snapped. "They get snagged on missiles and sucked into vortexes and pulled into jet engines! No capes!"

"Whoah. Did that actually happen?!" Momoko stared. She'd been flying for this long and never thought of that! Of course, she also didn't have a cape.

She was going to have to scrap some of her costume ideas.

"To three separate supers," Edna said with a nod, snapping her measuring tape closed. "No capes."

"I am totally going to have to redo my sketches, then, since I fly! I don't fly close to airplanes or jets, though, but I guess Mojo's stupid machines count since they sometimes have vacuums and stuff on them. Pockets are okay, right?"

Edna thought about it. "As long as you don't shove your hands into them on the red carpet and ruin the line of your ensemble...yes, pockets can work."

Momoko gasped and waved her hands. "No no no no! No! It has to look cool or I won't do it, I promise!" Her cape would have been totally cool, too. She shrugged. "I just need somewhere to store my yo-yo when I'm not using it! It totally looks stupid to be carrying it around all the time and I need to put it somewhere to use my hands. I just can't think of anything else to do other than pockets."

Momoko was no designer - she preferred to wear the cute clothes.

"Yep! I use a yo-yo!" Momoko grinned and bounced. "So I kind of need pockets, see? Oh! Perhaps something to hook onto my belt?"
