My Life as a Buddy Movie | Period 2 | Wednesday | May 20

Loki was almost expecting to be met at the doors of the school by security, telling him he'd fucked up enough last week that he wasn't welcome back and they'd be filling his spot with educational movies about sexual education and not smoking. Luckily that wasn't the case and he was back in the classroom early enough to set up a few things for today's class.

Once everyone had arrived and was settled, he stood up and made his way to the front of the classroom. "Morning. I hope everyone slept well and wore clothes that they don't mind getting a little wet."

Oh, had he forgotten to warn them? Oh, darn.

"Once upon a time, a guy I worked went fucking insane," he said, almost fondly. "He got power hungry and that blinded him to what we were trying to accomplish. He lost my trust and then he lost his head."

Poor Bartleby.

"For him, losing my trust wasn't a huge thing because he really didn't give a fuck by then. He was too far gone, too uncaring about losing a friend he'd had for fucking centuries to really try and regain my trust." He was a little sore about that. "But, losing trust in a relationship often spells fucking doom. You're not going to work well with each other if you're constantly expecting your partner to stab you in the fucking back, literally or metaphorically."

He'd been stabbed in the back before. It fucking hurt like a mofo.

"Some may argue that it's possible to continue a working relationship without trust and they'd be right. Keep your friends close and your enemies fucking closer but it's not going to be a very productive relationship. When you trust someone, you trust them to have your back and your front. You trust them to buy you an extra fucking donut for breakfast and to cover your ass if the cops show up with a warrant for your fucking arrest. You really think someone who doesn't trust you isn't going to dime your ass out if that happens? Probably fucking not."

He'd known people like that too. Fucking jackasses.

"And, like everything in relationships, trust has to be gained and it has to be maintained. You can't just meet someone and the trust is there. It's a constant, ever evolving thing that can be destroyed in a matter of fucking seconds. Don't think that because you're pretty or you're smart, everyone's going to trust you. Work on it. Be conscious that it's an entity that can be your best friend or your worst fucking enemy and it's a fickle fucking beast."

Ah, personal experience. It helped so much in this class.

"For today, we're going to be doing two things. You can do one, you can do both, or you can just stare at me. Your choice. First activity is trust falls. Partner up with someone and take turns doing this. One person falls into the other person's arms blindly, essentially. You have to trust the other person to catch you. I don't want to see any sissy falling either. If I see it, you're going to be trust falling with me. The second activity is water gun Russian roulette."

Oh yes.

"It's amazing what you can get a nerd to rig for you." He pointed to an assorted row of bright pink water pistols that had been rigged up to work for this activity. "And I've gone behind him and rigged each water gun specifically for each student. You have to pull your water gun's trigger three times. If the water hits you, you lose. If it doesn't, you win. If you point the gun at me, you really lose. You might ask what this proves about trust, right? Well, you're just going to have to trust that I'm a nice guy and didn't want to get any of you wet."

He wasn't a nice guy and most of those were rigged to spray water but he could still lie like a fucking rug.

"You have to trust your partner for the trust falls and you have to trust me for the water gun fun. Get to it."

Once he was done rambling, he leaned against the edge of his desk and waited for the class to start the activities.

Effy might have been slouched on her desk, but she was actually listening to what Loki was saying. The guy may be a right fucking weirdo, but he was at least interesting.

Effy was around.

She would be unimpressed if anyone decided to go for her. They who did would get the same right back. Like she'd take that without retaliation.

Griff listened to the lecture while staring at a notebook in front of him, doodling little pictures of some of the things Loki was talking about. What a weird class.

Amber was there and enjoying this class thoroughly. She sat back, kicked her feet up, and prepared to be entertained.

Trusting people in this context, might actually be something Effy could do.

She wouldn't necessarily do it happily, but she wasn't about to be a wimp about it either.

First thing she did when she came to his class was put a box of donuts and a cup of coffee on his desk. Glazed and powder were his choices today.

At least as far as trust falls went, if his partner wasn't trustworthy, the floor wasn't too far away. So trusting, this one.

"Yep. Sugar and caffeine is a great way to start the day." She should know. "Enjoy, Loki."

Griff didn't trust Loki at all, but he reasoned that water wouldn't hurt him and not taking a shot would show weakness of some sort, so he picked up a water pistol and pointed it at his head.

A moment later he was a bit damp.

Making a teacher happy with food felt damn great. And it totally didn't matter that a donut was missing from the box, or that she had a bit of powder on her cheek.

Grinning, she took her position as TA.

Trust Loki? Like hell Effy did on this count. She was fairly sure he wanted to see them do it just for shits and giggles.

That would be why she picked up a pretty pink gun and just examined it for the moment.

It would be so much more fun if they took a leaf from Cassie's book and filled it with alcohol.

Fiona didn't mind either falling or getting wet, but she didn't quite understand what the professor had done so far to earn their 'trust'.
