My Life as a Buddy Movie | Period 2 | Wednesday | May 20

Loki was almost expecting to be met at the doors of the school by security, telling him he'd fucked up enough last week that he wasn't welcome back and they'd be filling his spot with educational movies about sexual education and not smoking. Luckily that wasn't the case and he was back in the classroom early enough to set up a few things for today's class.

Once everyone had arrived and was settled, he stood up and made his way to the front of the classroom. "Morning. I hope everyone slept well and wore clothes that they don't mind getting a little wet."

Oh, had he forgotten to warn them? Oh, darn.

"Once upon a time, a guy I worked went fucking insane," he said, almost fondly. "He got power hungry and that blinded him to what we were trying to accomplish. He lost my trust and then he lost his head."

Poor Bartleby.

"For him, losing my trust wasn't a huge thing because he really didn't give a fuck by then. He was too far gone, too uncaring about losing a friend he'd had for fucking centuries to really try and regain my trust." He was a little sore about that. "But, losing trust in a relationship often spells fucking doom. You're not going to work well with each other if you're constantly expecting your partner to stab you in the fucking back, literally or metaphorically."

He'd been stabbed in the back before. It fucking hurt like a mofo.

"Some may argue that it's possible to continue a working relationship without trust and they'd be right. Keep your friends close and your enemies fucking closer but it's not going to be a very productive relationship. When you trust someone, you trust them to have your back and your front. You trust them to buy you an extra fucking donut for breakfast and to cover your ass if the cops show up with a warrant for your fucking arrest. You really think someone who doesn't trust you isn't going to dime your ass out if that happens? Probably fucking not."

He'd known people like that too. Fucking jackasses.

"And, like everything in relationships, trust has to be gained and it has to be maintained. You can't just meet someone and the trust is there. It's a constant, ever evolving thing that can be destroyed in a matter of fucking seconds. Don't think that because you're pretty or you're smart, everyone's going to trust you. Work on it. Be conscious that it's an entity that can be your best friend or your worst fucking enemy and it's a fickle fucking beast."

Ah, personal experience. It helped so much in this class.

"For today, we're going to be doing two things. You can do one, you can do both, or you can just stare at me. Your choice. First activity is trust falls. Partner up with someone and take turns doing this. One person falls into the other person's arms blindly, essentially. You have to trust the other person to catch you. I don't want to see any sissy falling either. If I see it, you're going to be trust falling with me. The second activity is water gun Russian roulette."

Oh yes.

"It's amazing what you can get a nerd to rig for you." He pointed to an assorted row of bright pink water pistols that had been rigged up to work for this activity. "And I've gone behind him and rigged each water gun specifically for each student. You have to pull your water gun's trigger three times. If the water hits you, you lose. If it doesn't, you win. If you point the gun at me, you really lose. You might ask what this proves about trust, right? Well, you're just going to have to trust that I'm a nice guy and didn't want to get any of you wet."

He wasn't a nice guy and most of those were rigged to spray water but he could still lie like a fucking rug.

"You have to trust your partner for the trust falls and you have to trust me for the water gun fun. Get to it."

Once he was done rambling, he leaned against the edge of his desk and waited for the class to start the activities.

Griff didn't trust Loki at all, but he reasoned that water wouldn't hurt him and not taking a shot would show weakness of some sort, so he picked up a water pistol and pointed it at his head.

A moment later he was a bit damp.

Trust Loki? Like hell Effy did on this count. She was fairly sure he wanted to see them do it just for shits and giggles.

That would be why she picked up a pretty pink gun and just examined it for the moment.

It would be so much more fun if they took a leaf from Cassie's book and filled it with alcohol.

Fiona picked up the water pistol and looked at the professor before putting it down. No, she didn't trust him, not even to make herself a bit damp or rather, she did trust him... to have filled it with water.

And thus put the pistol down. She'd explain if he asked.

She shook her head.

"No. I just don't intend to shoot myself with it."

She snorted.

"Of course not. But I trust you."

"Yes. I trust you to have filled the water gun because it isn't harmful, but you'd find it funny."

She looked out at the class.

"Or isn't this whole thing about proving a point?"

"Is this reality or about trust? Either way, your actions were based on your amusement," she said with a shrug.

"'Twin'?"

She let that sit for a moment.

"If it was something more than water," and she mimed squirting the gun in the air, "probably not, but I think you did."

And this time she did pull the trigger.

To no effect. The watergun was empty.

Her face went red. Someone's paranoia was going to have to take a raincheck.

"...it's like you said. You did that just because it would be unexpected, not because you didn't want to get me wet."

She'd been wrong. It rankled.

"For any of us. Not just me."

Yes, she had entirely missed the point of this exercise.

It was just water -- it wasn't going to kill her. After watching the rest of the students do whatever it is that they were supposed to do with the water guns, she gave it a shot for herself.

. . . good thing Gabrielle didn't mind ending up unexpectedly wet.

We'd say not dirty but with her canon who are we kidding?

Gwen was not going to shoot herself, even with water. After quickly checking to make sure she wasn't being watched, she pointed the gun at the floor and quickly squeezed the trigger three times.

She was shocked when water came out, really.

Ellie didn't trust Loki much at all, but she did trust that some of the guns were filled with water. That was harmless enough, which she found out a moment later when she was just a little wet.

Riggins trusted the teacher more than he trusted the students but he would be stupid to think that he wasn't going to miss out on the glee of getting to hit his students with water. Which would be why he was not surprised at all when water came out.

The general populace thanks you for giving Riggins a shower, Loki.

Marco was trying to discretely not play by hovering off to the side.

Jon was just going to sit far away from the water guns and go back to glaring at Loki. Thank you in advance for the nightmares, Teach.

Raven was not sure she understood the point of this, but as it was only water, it could do her no harm. After polling chat for random numbers She fired three shots, and was pleased she did not end up wet for any of them.
