For all his insistence on not being a leader and having no aspirations to be one, either, Chad put out a pretty good essay. Not wanting to be a leader, after all, did not necessarily mean being able to be objective about a situation. If there was one thing, though, to be said about Chad's essay was that it certainly seemed to expect a certain ideal....that as long as you were determined and stayed your course no matter what, it would all work out in the end.

It might have been hatched out of a great deal of worry and concern that it was exactly the sort of situation he'd be walking into after this summer.
