Leadership, Wednesday Period 1, Final (4/22/09)
"Welcome to your last class," Nathan said. "Today's the final. If you've been paying attention you should find it easy. You can leave once you're done, though I wouldn't advocate rushing through it just for that. If you have any questions, I'm here."

Take the Final!
Essay Question:
Imagine you have just become the leader of whatever you want to be (i.e. a country, a company, a squadron, etc.) Your predecessor has left you with huge debts, a potential enemy attack, and as many people passionately hating you as there are people who support you. Using the skills from the class, how would you attempt to deal with these problems?

Re: Take the Final!
First, I'd try to make assurances to the people that things will change and that I wouldn't be like their previous leader. Instilling some confidence in the leadership might help things forward. Priorities would have to be set, an action plan made. You can't deal with the debts until you deal with everything else. You can't deal with the attacks from outsiders if you don't have your own people on your side. And while everyone won't love me, reaching out and attempting to relate to the ones that hate me might be seen as a show of support. An olive branch. Diplomacy instead of violence.
Once the country has stabilized, we can move on to dealing with the outside threat of attack. While our manpower might not be as mighty, we'd still be prepared. However, I'd attempt to stop that attack before it started. While our previous leader might have brought it on, I would attempt to cut it off before it begins. War is hell. No one needs it...
Lee paused, looking thoughtful. There'd be more. He'd go on and on. But he figured he had a good start.

Weird.
All in all, it was a very earnest effort, if flawed.

DÅjima hummed happily as she worked, writing out detailed summaries of each of her team members she'd met so far, and looking at where the various strengths and weaknesses of the STN-J were.
It was entirely possible her paper mentioned having Michael-kun hack a known Witch's accounts for fund transfers (they wouldn't need their ill-gotten gains in jail), and lots of time at the bar across the street, but the rest of it was shockingly well-reasoned with ideas for team-morale and consolidating her power-base.

When you grew up in a world with food replicators, warp drive engines and pointy-eared neighbors who meditated on a daily basis, it was hard not to be optimistic about surviving the current economic climate.

She chewed on the end of her pen before deciding to add a paragraph about the usefulness of sex and seduction as weapons, negotiating tools, and methods of fundraising.
Hey, he asked.

It might have been hatched out of a great deal of worry and concern that it was exactly the sort of situation he'd be walking into after this summer.
Re: Take the Final!
handwavilydid reasonably well on her exam, doing enough to ensure that she passed.Re: Take the Final!
