Ethics [Tuesday, April 21, 2nd period]

"Welcome to your Ethics final," Anakin said, pacing around the classroom. "I will provide you with a series of scenarios. You tell me which option you would pick, and why. Since this is Ethics, there are no black and white correct answers to anything. What matters to me is that you have some sort of reason for your choice."

He might have glanced toward Marco. "If your logic is faulty or snide or clearly half-assed, that's when I will become...unhappy."

You arrive home after an extended period away to discover your mother has been kidnapped. She's presumed dead. What do you do and why?

a) Mourn and move on.
b) Brood about it constantly. Perhaps write poetry.
c) Ignore the idea that she might be dead and go after her yourself. Upon finding her remains, torch the village she was in.
d) None of the above.

You find out that your wife/lover/you is pregnant, yay! But you also learn that she will die in childbirth. Less yay. What now?

a) Make the most of the time you have left.
b) Look frantically for a cure. If this means doing unsavory things for slightly creepy people, so be it.
c) Like I'd ever get married. Here's how I see it going...

Curse those rebels and their stubbornness. You've captured one of their leaders but she won't tell you where their secret base is. Conveniently enough, you're in a mobile superweapon that can destroy planets. The options are fairly open...

a) Call it a day. We'll capture another rebel some time. Maybe they'll tell us.
b) Drag her out onto the command deck and threaten to blow up her planet.

Of course for Dor it meant going to see Good Magician Humfrey again and probably having to wash his socks.

Well, Chuck never really had a mother so he had to imagine the scenario featuring his father being kidnapped instead.

Which would be why he gave such a dick answer.

e. Go to Good Magician Humfrey and ask where the secret rebel base is. Then go on an adventure and learn a lot about yourself during the journey.

He wasn't going to get pregnant, goddammit. That kid of Dean and his was totally lying! Dean was so the girl.

Luckily the answer was an obvious one.

Easy one, duh.

c) She probably would just lie to you anyway. At least blowing up the planet would be a lesson to her: Don't lie to people who are capable of blowing up planets.

Ino contemplated her options, doubting that he'd be impressed, but hey... he'd asked.

a) Mourn and move on. Obviously. And hire other ninja to go kill her killer for me because Hokage-sama wouldn't authorize a mission like that for me and I've got no wish for ANBU to come after me.

d) Abort the child, duh. We can always adopt.

Ino was... not winning empathy points. Ino did not care.

Ino was pretty sure by now that her answers were so not what she was supposed to be picking.

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer though. Besides, it was being honest.

b) Drag her out onto the command deck and threaten to blow up her planet. If that doesn't work, torture them to within an inch of their lives then threaten again. If that doesn't work then blow up their planet. Don't make threats you don't have the nerve to back up.

A.) Revenge won't help on a mission. Unless I've been assigned the duty, I wouldn't make a move on whomever killed her.

D.) If Madrox can get pregnant, I have more important things to worry about.

D.) Use other methods of persuasion. No one can hold out forever.

Tony chewed on the end of his pen while he considered his answer. He hadn't talked to his mother in four years and they hadn't parted on great terms. Still, he wouldn't abandon her if she was in danger. (Don't ask about his dad.) If she were already dead, though, there wasn't any point in revenge.

Tony thought the question was kind of heteronormative, but he didn't include that in his answer. Mainly because he wasn't sure how to spell "hetoeronormative."

In the extremely unlikely event that I got my lover pregnant (I'm gay), then I'd terminate the pregnancy to save his life. I've never expected to have biological children anyway. If we want to raise children together, we can adopt. There are plenty of unwanted kids who need homes.

Tony wasn't going to acknowledge that in Fandom, something like that could happen. Just - no. Despite being here for two semesters, his brain was not up to considering that scenario.
