So You Want to Make a TV Show- 2nd Period- Class #15

"Well, guys, it's our last class," Dana said once the bell had rung. The room was arranged in the studio setup, the equipment was out and ready, and Dana was all set to see how they did. "You've all listened and done the work and really that's all a teacher can ask for, aside from you doing the work well. Which, to be fair, you've all done, or at least no one's screwed up so bad that I noticed, which is something to be praised in itself. It's been a pleasure, hopefully you've learned something, now go make your show."

"Right," Claire said, reading over the index card. "And I'll try for that. They're both crazy hot but not in a scary way, so he gets the girls, she gets the guys, and together they get them both."

"Right," Turtle nodded. "But, whatever you do, don't let there be noticeably more Adora than Hannibal. That'll just turn tons of a potential female audience off, and it's already a sports show, so we need to keep 'em as much as we can."

"So if in doubt, go with Hannibal or a two-shot?" Claire checked. "What about music, Is there a theme or anything I need to worry about?"

"Nothing too much when they're talking, but maybe something a little catchy or attention getting when they shift between topics?" Turtle suggested.

"Hopefully I'll be able to grab something like that from the editing software," Claire said, crossing her fingers. It was weird, how serious she was about this class assignment. "You've seen the script, right? is it pretty coherent, or is it all over the place emotionally?"

Turtle wondered just how emotional a sports show could get.

"It's good," she said with a nod. "Dinah paid pretty good attention to stuff like that. Could be a little iffy on segues, which is probably going to put you to work the most. But hopefully our anchors can work a transition."

Plenty of people got very emotional about sports, but Claire just wanted to know if there were any awkward segues from light to heavy. "I have faith in them," Claire said, turning her attention to Hannibal and Adora. "...enough, anyhow."

Turtle grinned a little at the addendum. "Maybe I'll pop in a little once you get started," she said. "Just a little. I don't want to be super annoying, but I would like to see what direction you take it."

"You're the producer," Claire shrugged. "... but Jenny and I get final cut, right?"

Look, she'd read about what happened when producers got final cut in Variety.

"Director," Turtle corrected. "Jenny's the producer. So me and you, actually, get that call. I don't want to infringe too much on your own ideas, though."

"Wow, I totally read the sign-up sheet wrong," Claire apologized. "Come on handwavily back after the show and you can watch me work on it."

Turtle nodded. "Sounds full of handwavey goodness."
