Child Development- 1st Period- Class #14

It was best not to ask why Lily was dressed in full on winter gear today.

"We were going to talk about high school age today, but it kinda seems like last night was traumatic for a few people- again- and it's not going to be on your final because, well, you are high school kids. If you didn't ace that part, I'd be worried, I don't care how adult you all think you are. What we're going to do instead is skip that. I want to discuss what you guys learned this weekend with all the kids, and whether you think you understand things better now.

"And then you can take some time to review or your final. Yes, there's going to be a test. Nothing scary, but just make sure you actually listened, took notes, or stole your neighbor's notes."

Angela was actually feeling refreshed for the first time in days. Her kids were adorable, but also apparently never calmed down. Ever.

It had taken Claudia most of Saturday to realize that anything was wrong, and had barricaded herself in her room for Sunday and Monday.

She looked completely refreshed.

Francine wasn't sobbing. She was just a little emo.

Claire wasn't grinning her head off or anything, but Claire grinning her head off would have been an alarming sight in itself.

She listened quietly.

Bender was mostly relieved at not having any surprise blueprints from the robot stork. But it really took the fun out of making the meatbags cry when you could see how easily they did it to themselves.

Jen wasn't sobbing. Or emoing, even, really. Just looking really thoughtful.

. . . and headachey, yes.

Last night wasn't actually at all traumatizing to Jill. Friday, though, she still hadn't fully recovered from Friday. She looked a little dazed, and maybe like she thought people were going to call her out or something.

"Don't try talking to your boyfriend when you've got an audience that includes both your kid and your with ones with other people," Angela advised. "It's complicated and seems to end in tears."

"Especially when it's his kids, and those other people are boys, because what?" Francine said. "I mean not that it ended in tears but it probably would've if I had asked."

"Oh, I've been trying to figure out where biology got confused In order for some of these kids to exist all weekend," Angela agreed.

"Biology seems to get confused in Fandom a lot," Francine said, shaking her head. "I know Professor Beaubier was all 'come up with a better explanation than maybe it was magic' in Physics class--" Her French-Canadian accent was terrible. "But sometimes, maybe it was magic."

"It's possible to have no parental instincts and still raise a decently-adjusted kid," Jess said.

"I learned that it's possible to get attached to kids really really quick -- which only makes it hurt more when they go away."

"This was my third time with the same kid," Chad offered with a shrug. "It's nice seeing him; it'll be weird, next year, when I don't, since both his dads are graduating, but, since he's kind of, you know, impossible, I'm just glad we had the time at all."

"Timeline weirdness is bad enough," Jen said, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Genetic weirdness on top of it is even worse."

THANK YOU FOR PROTECTING ME FROM ALY TEARS. She is the second-best crier out of the BtVS cast. (The first being SMG, who just does that wet-eyelashes thing that kills me.)
