Art Club, Art Classroom, Monday, 4/6

So yesterday half the school was fighting zombies and a big chunk of the other half actually was zombies, and today things were back to normal.

Kind of normal. Sort of normal. Normal enough that Claire was in the art room after classes, dragging out crayons, construction paper, and pipe cleaners for the club meeting, when an especially small and timid gremlin who would never have bothered her at all if it wasn't for the treaty hopped out from behind the tempera paints and bit her wrist hard.

"Fucking OW," Claire said, and that was the last thing Claire would say as herself for quite a while. For the moment, she thought she was a three-year-old furry red monster.

"La la la la, la la la la, Elmo's world ...," he sang, repeating it as people assembled for the club. Elmo kept talking once everyone was there. He had so many friends, and they all looked so smart!

"Hi! Elmo's goldfish Dorothy was thinking about art." Dorothy was, in fact, a misshapen attempt at pottery left in the studio to dry, and thus had probably been thinking about no such thing. "Elmo has a question for you! How do you make art?"

He bounced. "And after you answer that, we'll sing the art song! 'Art art art, art art art, art art art art aaaaaaart'!"

Katchoo was too tired and emotionally wiped to do anything but sit there and succumb to a fit of quiet hysterics, really. She'd just be over there in the corner snickering behind her hand.

A lot.

The thing was, at the moment Katchoo actually was happy. Shh. And because she actually kind of liked Claire, she wasn't going to give her too much crap about it afterward.

Which didn't rule out being privately amused, because come on.

"Yeah, sure," she said, stifling a guffaw. "Why not?"

Yeah, considering how Cal had spent all morning (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/2076621.html) singing and dancing around the library about books, he had a pretty good idea what was going on with Claire there.

He was just going to groan a moment and bury his face in his hands. There was, of course, the natural embarrassment by proxy, but there was also the strong sense of self-preservation that made him reluctant to do or say anything in not wanting his girlfriend to hate both life and him once she started to feel better.

It just had to be Claire, too, didn't it? It couldn't have been someone he could actually mess with and propagate with shit because they weren't someone who, in a few hours, would have the power to withhold important things like sex from him...

"Yeah," Cal muttered, trying to think of the easiest, most harmless thing to possibly say. "A little sleepy."

Prancing around a library all day, singing, could do that to a person.

Peyton was still focused on her zombie drawings.

Peyton blinked at 'Elmo'. "Um, yes, I guess I am. Does that bother you, Elmo? I can stop if you want."

...

This should be weirder. As it was, he was mostly worried about why 'Claire' was do damn cheerful.

There were and are no words or possible names for the facial expression Liir made at hearing this sentence. It was an unattractive mix of confusion, surprise, horror, genuine fear, and what can only be deemed 'what in fuck?'

"Y-yes," finally came out, almost in self defense.

Claudia bit her lip to keep from giggling and hid her face behind her sketchbook. She'd been at Fandom long enough not to immediately launch into her "drugs are bad" speech.

Claudia wondered briefly if she'd ever met someone named Elmo, then decided to roll with it. "I am," she said, brushing her hands down over her bright turquoise shirt and equally loud peasant skirt. "Why are you happy?"

Alice was going to give Claire quite a confused glance. "Dare I ask why you're singing?"

She was quite fond of nonsense, but to be perfectly frank, Claire hadn't seemed the type.

"I ... suppose so," Alice said. Perhaps this was part of art this week. Improvisational theater. It was certainly theater of the absurd. "What should we sing?"

Savannah was indeed boggling at Claire and incredibly confused.

However, the giggles that she was trying to bite back just wouldn't stay silent.

Harper was starting to wonder if insanity was contagious, because people were acting like crazy today.

Angela's art (http://pics.livejournal.com/flashesforinfo/pic/00002wf3/g1) today was less than cheerful, for once.

Inspiration from the weekend was apparently slipping in there. Nice.
