Art Club, Art Classroom, Monday, 4/6
So yesterday half the school was fighting zombies and a big chunk of the other half actually was zombies, and today things were back to normal.
Kind of normal. Sort of normal. Normal enough that Claire was in the art room after classes, dragging out crayons, construction paper, and pipe cleaners for the club meeting, when an especially small and timid gremlin who would never have bothered her at all if it wasn't for the treaty hopped out from behind the tempera paints and bit her wrist hard.
"Fucking OW," Claire said, and that was the last thing Claire would say as herself for quite a while. For the moment, she thought she was a three-year-old furry red monster.
"La la la la, la la la la, Elmo's world ...," he sang, repeating it as people assembled for the club. Elmo kept talking once everyone was there. He had so many friends, and they all looked so smart!
"Hi! Elmo's goldfish Dorothy was thinking about art." Dorothy was, in fact, a misshapen attempt at pottery left in the studio to dry, and thus had probably been thinking about no such thing. "Elmo has a question for you! How do you make art?"
He bounced. "And after you answer that, we'll sing the art song! 'Art art art, art art art, art art art art aaaaaaart'!"

Re: Mingle + Make Art (4/6)
"Yeah," Cal muttered, trying to think of the easiest, most harmless thing to possibly say. "A little sleepy."
Prancing around a library all day, singing, could do that to a person.
Re: Mingle + Make Art (4/6)
Al of Elmo's songs sounded a lot like "Jingle Bells,"
Re: Mingle + Make Art (4/6)
"No," he said. "Really, I'm fine. I don' tneed a song, but that was...that was pretty good. Really...creative."
Re: Mingle + Make Art (4/6)
He really, really didn't.
"Elmo is going to go draw with Elmo's other friends now! Bye bye, Cal. Go to sleep."
Re: Mingle + Make Art (4/6)
Until, of course, another thought struck him. It was probably inevitable, really, that the whole of art club would be subjected to this terrifying vision of Claire, but Cal felt obligated, just as he had over the weekend, to at least make it seem like he'd make the effort to try to stop this madness.
"Err, maybe," he suggested, "we should all take naps, or something. Naps are good, right?"
And 'Elmo' here couldn't interact with people if she was napping.
Re: Mingle + Make Art (4/6)
"Right now it's time to draw!" he finally decided. "But after it's time to draw, it can be time to nap. Can you read Elmo a story before naptime?"
Re: Mingle + Make Art (4/6)
"Sure," he said, rubbing his forehead a little. "I can read you a story when its naptime."
Maybe he'll luck on and, in retrospect, Claire will think that was sweet.
Re: Mingle + Make Art (4/6)
He spread his arms wide for a great big muppet-y hug.
Re: Mingle + Make Art (4/6)
He really, really hoped Claire didn't try to kill herself after this. In fact, what he was mostly hoping was that Claire would just want a place to hide out for a few days, a place that he could every easily provide.
Cal was very careful about making sure that the hug he gave could not in the least bit be considered advantageous.
Re: Mingle + Make Art (4/6)
Right then, though, Elmo just wanted his hug. He gave Cal an entirely chaste extra squeeze before bounding off.
