Food Appreciation [Class Eleven, Period #3]

There was pizza today. Lots and lots of pizza. Pizza with all kinds of crusts and every kind of topping you can imagine. A ton of pizza. Enough pizza for everyone in the class and then some.

Marshall was standing in front of the class with a plate that was loaded with several different kinds of pizza. Yes, he was planning to eat it all.

"Pizza!" Marshall said, holding up a slice. "It's delicious, it has a lot of variety and it's going to be your main staple when you guys get to college. Why? Because it's cheap and you don't have to get off your ass in order to get it. Pizza, as you probably already know, is from Italy and..."

Marshall trailed off and shook his head.

"...look, like you guys care about the history of pizza. I know you just want to eat," he said, chuckling. "So, eat! This is Food Appreciation, appreciate this food."

Marshall certainly was going to.

Pizza! She actually knew pizza. That was nice, for a change. So she grabbed a few slices that were covered in different kinds of meat.

Jen . . . actually wasn't eating pizza. As much as she loved it, she got a liiiiiiiiiiiittle burned out on it after a while.

But she'd totally stand around and try to survey people on their favorite kinds. Just for the sake of the specials board.

Or . . . something.

Yeah, let's say the specials board.

Momoko grabbed up her plate and rushed over. "Jen! Jen! Jen! Oh my gosh, Jen!" She had a look of absolute desperation on her face, so obviously it was something important she had to discuss. "I missed Saturday's episode so I went online to download it only now it looks like something crashed my laptop and you totally have to tell me what I missed! Please?"

"Something did what to your laptop?" Few things got Jen to look that horrified, really -- Alex being back from the dead and being a jerk . . . Wes's father for a while there . . . her traitor ex-partner trying to kill her . . . her own cooking . . . and now this. "Do you need it? I have it."

"I don't know! I was trying to download the episodes so far and got something virus-y instead. I'm still checking the damage, as much as I know how, but I definitely didn't get the episode and now I'm behind!" Momoko slapped her palm against her forehead. "You have them already? I knew I should have asked you first!"

Jen cleared her throat and looked around, guiltily. "Just for research purposes, you know."

Because people ever believed that.

"But I'd be happy to share my, um, findings with you, of course."

And Momoko was suddenly wearing her most innocent look.

"And I would totally remember to destroy my copies of the files when I am done with my, uhm, reviews of the episodes that totally belong to someone else and should be enjoyed by legally purchasing the reasonably priced and edited dvds that will eventually be released through approved and legitimate vendors, thereby supporting the entire industry."

She smiled. "Yay! Thank you! I'm still checking out my laptop but that would be so cool!"

"You're not eating any pizza." Yes, there was a hint of accusation in Harry's tone. Not eating pizza when there was free pizza was just kind of wrong.

"Yeah, well, believe it or not?" Jen leaned in, conspiratorially. "It's actually possible to have too much pizza. It usually happens when you work at a pizza place."

[identity profile] harrydresden.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Harry shook his head. "You've inhaled too many pepperoni fumes or something. There is no such thing as too much pizza."

"Aha," Jen said, holding up one very non-greasy finger. "You've never worked at Pizza Planet."

"And I never want to," Harry said, "if it means I'll wake up one morning and decide I'm tired of pizza."

Marco and pizza were like Bonnie and Clyde. Except without the painful dying. Or well, the pizza was.

Amber was sticking with the pepperoni but two slices was her limit.

Ned grabbed a slice of extra cheese (see, it wasn't TOO vanilla) and sat down to start chowing down.

Mmmm, pizza! Viki, it should be noted, could eat a lot more than it looked like she ought to be able to. Mmmm.

Momoko grabbed a plate and a few slices, not really being too picky about the toppings. As long as it wasn't celery... Wait, was there celery on the vegetarian pizza? She'd have to examine her slice carefully.

Sam took one slice of meat-covered pizza, and two slices of Hawaiian. It didn't make sense for pineapple to go so well with pizza, but Sam wasn't one to question nature.

Priestly managed to hunt down a pizza covered in vegetables.

We're not talking the classic American veggie lovers sort of thing with peppers and onions and olives and mushrooms. We're talking all that plus cucumbers, sweet corn, zuccinni, spinach, carrots. . . .

Priestly spent several moments pondering his slice of this strange salad-pizza before taking a bite.

Ladies and gentlemen, the strangely hippie-ish punk has discovered a new favorite pizza.

Andros knew enough about pizza to make it one of his favourite Terran foods, so he was helping himself to a few different slices.

Summer was a big fan of pizza, and so she was totally enjoying a slice or two.

Hoshi wasted no time digging into a slice of stuffed cheese and sausage pizza (http://slice.seriouseats.com/archives/2008/06/giordanos-stuffed-pizza-classic-chicago-illinois.html).
