Detention, Danger Shop, Saturday

When the students came into the Danger Shop on Saturday morning they would notice that it had been turned into a giant bedroom. A giant bedroom that had six sleeping bags arranged in a circle in the center of it. Marshall, being in charge here, obviously got to have the bed. The students would also see a sign in sheet when they came in so they could let Marshall know they were here:

Chuck Bass
Marco Conrad

Alex Russo
Hoshi Sato
John Sheppard
Sam Winchester

The man in charge of said detention, Marshall, was standing in the center of the bedroom wearing a nightgown.

"Ahem."

Oh, right, nightshirt. He was standing in a nightshirt. Whether or not he was wearing underwear under said nightshirt was up for debate.

"Hey guys. I guess I don't really need to introduce myself since you're either from my class--" He nodded at Sam, Hoshi, Alex and Marco. "--one of my friend's enemies--" Marshall looked over at Chuck. Then he nodded at John. "--or some teenage boy that I drank with in the bar and now feeling kind of odd about seeing in a teaching capacity. Welcome to detention. I've never really done this type of thing before and I haven't been in detention myself in a couple of years so I didn't really know what to do for this...but last night I was watching 13 Going on 30 I was like, hey! Let's have slumber party."

Hard to believe this man was married to a pretty hot chick, huh?

"Before you get too excited, there isn't going to be any sleeping. Everyone knows the first person that falls asleep at a sleepover gets their hand put in hot water and then pees themselves. Which is just cruel and never funny," Marshall said. "It's not funny when your brothers do it to you at a sleepover when you were nine and it's not funny when your best friend does it to you when you're twenty-four and asleep on the couch."

One of these days Marshall was going to learn to stop talking before he shared too much information.

"And, since this is detention, I couldn't really let you guys have too much fun. So we're having a girl's sleepover. Yeah, Hoshi, Alex, you're getting off easy. I don't think you're in here on purpose anyways. Don't worry, guys, I got boys and girls pj's and it's not like we're playing Spin the Bottle or anything. It's just...well...you'll see."

Marshall had the feeling Spin the Bottle wasn't a school-approved activity anyway. "Don't worry; there's cool stuff to do too. Prank calls, Truth or Dare, that sort of thing. Okay, so, get pj'ed up and get started. I'm gonna go over to the bed and watch TV. Call me if something disastrous happens."

What? He wasn't in detention. He could do what he wanted. He might even take a nap.

"I have to pick?" John said, looking over the polish. "How about black." He could pretend to be goth.

"How daring of you," Chuck said, grabbing the bottle. He shook it a few times because he knew that was what you were supposed to do. Yes, he's had manicure before. Never one with polish though.

"Give me your hand," he said, moving closer to John.

John held out his hand with an eyeroll. "This is cruel and unusual punishment. I thought Marshall was cool." In a seriously insane way.

"This is the second time this week he's punished me. He's a jackass," Chuck said, taking John's hand and placing it on his own knee in order to keep it steady. He unscrewed the bottle and began to apply the polish carefully. Chuck was a very detail-oriented, neat person when it came down to it and he wasn't going to let the fact that he disliked John get in the way of that.

"You think he really sleeps in that dress?" Chuck asked.

Okay, John might have to admit Chuck was doing an okay job at this.

John shuddered, "He seems insane enough to. I just hope never to find out if he sleeps in anything else." Ew.

"Ugh, don't make me sick, Sheppard," Chuck said. "It'll ruin your manicure."

"That'd be a tragedy," John said. "You done this before?"

Chuck shook his head. "No. I just know how to color in the lines."

He finished the one hand and and lifted it up towards John while reaching for the other. "You might want to blow on those."

John switched hands with Chuck and curled his fingers over his palm to blow on them. "Should I really care if they dry well?"

"Probably not," Chuck said, smirking. "Not unless you plan on keeping them painted for a while."

If it was Parents Weekend, the nails would be staying just for the potential to annoy people. "It's not really my thing, but hey, you could have a future as a nail tech."

"Thanks, but I think my dad might disown me," Chuck said, not bothering to look up from what he was doing. "And I don't think I could touch anybody that had gross hands."

"That would make it rough. Infected cuticles and unwashed nails," John said. "Is getting disowned so bad?" He was close to it and had been hoping it would be a relief to rip the family off like a bandaid.

Chuck actually looked up at that. "...I'd be poor."

"You sound like my brother," John sighed. "I'd rather be poor than hate my life."

"I don't hate my life. I hate my father," Chuck said, turning John's hand slightly so he could reach the thumb to paint. "Lucky for me the feeling is mutual so we actively try to ignore each other's existence."

John held still, letting Chuck manipulate his hand while he looked on the strangely excellent detail of the other. "No acting out to get his attention?" That had been John's MO before Fandom.

"I act out, but mostly it's just because I have nothing better to do," Chuck said. "He kind of expects me to be a fuck up. I mustn't disappoint."

He finished John's other hand and looked at his work for a moment before putting the top back on the bottle. That wasn't so bad. Almost kind of relaxing.

"Pick your color," John said, figuring it was his turn. "I find that I don't even have to do anything different than usual to fulfill that screw-up expectation. I guess existing is enough for some."

"I know how that is," Chuck said. He had been on his father's bad list since birth. "I think we'll go with...purple."

What? He liked purple.

"The color of royalty," John murmured, grabbing the bottle and shaking it like he'd seen Chuck do and marveling at the rattling sound.

"So while I reject my dad's money, you embrace yours." Maybe he was doing it wrong.

"I figure it's owed to me," Chuck said, holding out his hand. "Payment for putting up with him all these years."

"Huh," John considered this idea as he opened the polish and reached for Chuck's hand. He could mimic this nail painting thing, it couldn't be all that hard.

"So you get the money and you get to do what you want. I'm thinking you don't have a sibling to bitch about it."

[identity profile] rocksthescarf.livejournal.com 2009-03-21 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not yet. I will be getting them soon enough. My dad's getting married in May," Chuck explained. He didn't really mind if John screwed up. It's not like he'd be keeping the polish on for long anyway. "But I'm not worried about them bitching at me. They've got their own money and I've known them since kindergarten. They should be used to my lifestyle by now."

"A ready-made family, that's sweet," John grinned, swiping the brush a little messily over Chuck's nails. "Also it has the bonus of being siblings you're technically not related to by blood."
