Student Council, Friday, Lunchtime

Lunch that day was pizza.

"Last week we had the suggestion of doing spirit week during exams," Nathan said. "Does everyone think that will work or do you think that might interfere with something that I'm not OOCly aware of would be too much going on at once? If not, when should we have it? And what activities should we have? Let's make today's goal to finalize things enough that I can present it to the principal for you."

"I think doing it during exam week would be a nice, light thing to distract people from losing their minds," Lee decided.

"I agree," Joan said. "We can do fun and silly things to help people de-stress."

"Yep. Five days, Monday through Friday with just some silly side stuff shouldn't affect exams but it'd be a nice distraction," he agreed.

"It'll keep the morale up," Ender added. "Do we have a list of what to do for each day yet?"

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think, before, we'd talked about...pajama day, twin day, school colors day, hat day, and...some other things that I forgot," Lee said. "If we come up with five good ones, we can just assign them days."

"Hawaiian day," Ender supplied. Sure, it'd been a joke at the time, but it worked now. "Maybe at the pool."

"Okay, so let's do a rough outline of the week," he decided. "Monday, pajamas day. Tuesday, crazy tie day? Those are fun. Friday can be our Hawaiian day to sort of cap the week. Ideas for Wednesday and Thursday or even Tuesday?"

"Swimsuit day?" Ino suggested. "Dress as the opposite gender day?"

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] joan-notjane.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Joan laughed. "Might not want to tempt fate with that one. Or the island might make us all gender swap again."

She considered. "What about a wacky hair day?"

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was going to say the same about opposite gender day," Turtle snorted a little. "Maybe a sports day? Like, to make up for the deficit in having some."

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, so now we have pajamas day, Hawaiian day, sports day, wacky hair day, and possibly swimsuit day," Lee recited. "That's five with swimsuit day that might be tempting the fates. But, who knows."

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] joan-notjane.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Swimsuits kinda go with the Hawaiian day," Joan pointed out. "What about, like, a Mardi Gras type day or something?"
intraspective: (are you REALLY sure)

Re: StuCo stuff

[personal profile] intraspective 2009-03-20 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're going to have to put up posters or something explaining that one," she pointed out dryly, "Hawaiian day too. Not all of us actually know what that means. At least everyone knows what a swimsuit is."

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"What if, instead of Hawaiian day, we called it like Summer Day?" Lee asked. "People can wear shorts and all their summer clothes and we can pray it doesn't snow?"

She shrugged a bit. "That's a better one--it's not too this world specific, you know?"

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] joan-notjane.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do we have meetings and do stuff through the summer?" Joan asked. "Because I was thinking that if we have the multi-cultural festival, it might be nice to have after the new students arrive for the summer. Kind of a 'Welcome to Fandom' thing."

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Even if we don't meet over the summer," Turtle said with a nod, "I think this could be a great idea."

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] joan-notjane.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe you and I can organize it since Lee and Harvey are graduating," Joan suggested.

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Turtle's grin was substantial. "That's a great idea, too, Joan," she agreed eagerly. "I mean, what better way to step up to the plate as the new seniors than by organizing the first event after the picnic for the new kids?"

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] joan-notjane.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Joan grinned back. "Exactly! We'll be good examples for the rest of our class."

Or something. Either way, she thought it would be fun.

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Not to mention leaving a lasting impression on some of the other seniors that might be sticking around past summer for voting in the fall...

"I love it!" she said, just a step down from squealing, with a beaming grin to match. "Maybe we could do something like the weekend after they arrive? I'm fairly sure they usually get right into workshops, so we wouldn't have a week, but a weekend thing after they've settled would also maybe open it up to some of the new cultures of the new students could be represented as well."

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] joan-notjane.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That thought may have crossed Joan's mind as well.

"Exactly! Especially because their poor brains will probably be kind of broken by that point," she said. "So having a cultural fair will help them settle in."

Hopefully.

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Turtle's head bobbed a little. "Cracked, at best, but hopefully not demolished. And so the multi-cultural fair will be like the glue to help put those brains back together."

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] joan-notjane.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I think this is an excellent plan," Joan agreed. "We'll have to send an email around and ask for volunteers to talk about their cultures. And we have have food and maybe games or something."

[should we write this up for the admins?]

Re: StuCo stuff

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-03-20 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Turtle nodded. "Flyers as well as email," she noted, with a faint grin. "For those cultures who haven't quite embraced technology."

"Right, good point," Joan said.

Lee grabbed a slice of pizza, always happy to get free food.

Joan was nibbling some pizza and hoping that nothing weird was gonna happen over the weekend.

Pizza, pizza, pizza! Turtle happily ate a few slices, picking off from it any gross things.

Joan was doing the opposite of talking to Nathan. She was really, really hoping he hadn't heard the radio on Monday about her waking up snuggling his brother.
