Newspaper Crew Meeting: 16:00 FHS

After classes was out, Jake sighed deeply and went to the Journalism room to join Chloe and the rest in harshing out what would be in next week's issue.

"Kind of. He doesn't like that I live off campus with Jayne and Sheldon. He says I need to be in the dorms where he can protect me."

Phoebe nods at Beka.

"He thinks that all Jayne wants from me is to get in my pants." She sighs. "Beka, he has had plenty of opportunities to sleep with me, but he never took advantage of any of that."

Beka puts out her hand for Phoebe if she wants it. "Sounds like he's jealous. And probably insecure." She sighs. "As for Jayne, well, I get the impression his rep's a lot worse than he is."

Phoebe takes Beka's hand.

"Jayne's reputation isn't deserved. He's such a sweet guy and he cares about the people he lets inside of him." Phoebe shakes her head. "Jayne doesn't trust Cole not to crush me again...Cole doesn't trust Jayne period."

With a warm smile, Beka squeezes Phoebe's hand. "Thing is, Pheebs, it doesn't really matter what they think. What do you think?"

Phoebe feels so blessed to have Beka as a close friend. No matter how badly the circumstances of their meeting, Beka would always have a friend in Phoebe.

"I'm with Cole, we're together and we're in love. I care deeply about Jayne. He's never turned his back on me and he has never taken advantage of me when I'm down. After Cole crushed me and I disappeared, it was Jayne who tried to find me and who stitched me back together when I showed up bleeding on his doorstep. Cole is my boyfriend and Jayne is my dearest friend."

Phoebe sighs.

"With my powers manifesting the way they are, I'm scared. I'm scared that the people I care about will be attacked because of me...you, Maia, Cole, Jayne, Liz...I'm worried and I'm scared."

"Right, then. You love Cole, he loves you. Some people would say that's simple. Me? Love confuses the hell out of me even without the star-crossed part that seems to be the norm around here. Cole is...struggling a bit. But it'll work out." Or I'll...call him a stupid emodemon.

"Jayne'll come around, too. I don't know him much, but for all his bluff, he cares about the people he cares about. That's sure. And you're one of them." She nods, thoughtfully. Jayne's not unlike her in that.

"As for the rest... don't worry about me. I'm good. Magic's not my thing, but if anyone's spoiling for a fight..." She shrugs. "I'm glad you care. Very. But I'm used to being hunted wanted in danger. I'm more worried about why you look so haunted." I wish I could help somehow.
