Phys Ed: Week 9, Period 1 (Fri. 3/13)

Meeting in the Danger Shop, the class would possibly be surprised by old, sketchy bowling alley before them. Lucky for students, the concessions (while completely not real due to Danger Shopness) were open and free to all.

"Today you bowl. I've been told this is a time-honored Earth tradition involving beer, one-on-one combat, and broken fingers. For non-Earthlings, it's easy enough. Pick up the ball and toss it down the lane to hit all the pins." As Ronon spoke, he demonstrated, failing to use the finger holes in the ball but still managing a strike for his trouble. No one last semester had corrected him. "You break a finger, see Worf. No hitting people with the bowling ball unless it's necessary." He was kidding, sort of, but note he said nothing about not hitting people with pins.

"Dress out and meet on the lanes."

Worf decided to follow his own method and did a shot put of the ball.

It went in the gutter.

As did the next one. And the next one.

Worf decided that this was a stupid game.

Gavin was just going to take a few practice shots first. You know, to warm up. Not because he sucked. He ignored the finger holes and tossed it down the lane and...right into the gutter.

Huh.

Claire had been bowling before. She wasn't especially good at it or anything, but she figured she'd do better than the people not even from earth.

She might have been wrong. She swore the gutters were magnetic -- her ball seemed to curve off its path just to crash into them.

And this would be the reason she disliked bowling.

Stupid gutters.

Stupid ball only hitting one or two pins.

Priestly was a halfway decent bowler. He generally managed to hit at least some of the pins. His form was . . . a little bizarre, but, hey, it got the job done.

Humans had really really weird sports sometimes.

Anemone more tossed the ball down the lane, watching it bounce/thunk along before it either went in the gutter or barely hit the pins.

Frustrated after a few attempts, she just walked down the lane and then dropped the ball on the pins. "Done!"

Oh yeah. Reno had watched the demonstration. Reno had been bowling before, too.

But that wasn't going to stop him from tossing the ball overhand toward the pins. It was just more fun that way.

Ben had learned how to bowl with Tahiri.

So Ben was bowling strikes, but hadn't actually stood up at all.

Telekinesis was fun!

Jack picked up a ball, aimed, and fired. Well, "aimed" and "fired" in the bowling sense that included some wrist snapping, one foot way out behind and to the side, and a solid hit...that resulted in a 7-10 split. "Aw, hell."

The last time Liz had been bowling had been at her old high school so the majority of her shots went into the gutter.

K-Mart was still looking at the shoes in 'ew' as she sent her first ball down the lane. Miraculously, she managed to hit a pin or two.

The next several, when she was actually paying attention? Complete gutter balls. Go figure.

Momoko grabbed a ball and sent it down the lane for a strike, watching the pins fall with a grin. Bowling was way easier than fighting with her yoyo.

She looked to see if it was ready for her again. She'd tone down her game in a few frames, but it felt good to be able to go all out and not worry about it.

Jill was a horrible bowler. She was probably going to set a new bad score record or something. And the ball was really heavy. She hadn't figured out they came in sizes yet.
