Mathematics: All Classes

I thought we'd get off on an easy start, so all I want you to do today is tell me your favorite number and why.

(ooc: Player did not like the effects of blood test/tetanus shot and will be curling up in bed with stuffed toy dog now.)

Kawalsky is a little unsure that he's in the right room since he's the first one to show up (he's usually the last to show up), but he sees the roster and signs his name, then takes a seat halfway to the back.

I like the number 4. I like it because of all the different ways you can write it. It looks cool and out of all of the numbers it's the most fun to write.

Han signs in, nervous about another class in his already full schedule, but knowing he needs it.

My favorite is 5. Because that's the goal of all my engine tinkering: making the ship go five factors beyond light speed.

Maia signs the roster. She has only just added this morning.

I like the number 3 and the number 7. They are prime numbers and for some reason when I was a little girl, they just made me happy to write and to look at. *shrugs* Yeah its kinda stupid I know but I like them. They make me happy to look at for some reason.

Chloe signs the roster, praying this class isn't as hard as the math classes she took in Smallville.

I like the number 23. I don't know why, it just seems like a good number. Maybe because that seems like an ideal age to be too.

I dunno... I kinda want to say 33, but then, why not 34 or 35?

After class, Sam stands by the doorway, waiting for the other students to file out. "Excuse me, Professor Eppes?"

We talked about maybe an independent study thing? For me and my friend Sam ([Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]). Our friend John ([Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]), he'd be interested too.

Charlie looks up from the piece of paper he's studying and smiles. "Hello. I remember you."

Lisa signs in, looking a bit hungover.

Angelus signs the roster, giving Charlie a friendly smile as he does.

"The Hardy-Ramanujan number, for its unique properties but also I find the story behind it fascinating. When numbers become cultural touchstones it is noteworthy."

69. Not just because of things it stands for, but also because it just looks cool. See? The six is just like the nine, except upside down. That's awesome.

"Hey teach," Angelus asked, "do you play poker? Also I'm told to ask if you count cards."
