Retro Recipes: This Sh*t is Bananas; First Period [08/08].

Summer was definitely in a weird mood today, her brow pretty much permenantly knitted into a thoughtful furrow, as she was still trying to process a lot of thoughts and emotions about last night. If anything, she hoped this class could be a nice distraction, but, with how it had been going recently, she was just in no mood to deal with it.

"Today we're putting bananas in meatloaf," she told...warned?....them. "And if that's too much for anyone's delicate sensibilities," you're goddamn right she was looking right at you, Wayne, "well, then, I know you know how to find the door. This one's got to take some time to bake, though, so we're just going to get right into it."

Practical Philosophy, Thursday

"Welcome back, class," Ender said, sitting down on the lawn with his legs crossed beneath him. "You may all have noticed some small changes in the world around you this week."

A pause.

"Or perhaps you haven't. After all, upheaval has come to the island in such enormously dramatic ways these past weeks that the lack of fish might almost seem like nothing at all." A pause. "Until you take a step off the causeway and look at the restaurants page in Yelp."

Look, you did adventure your way, Ben and Ender did it theirs.

"Still, small changes can steamroll into big implications. How did life evolve on this planet? How does the ecosystem function? How did cultures develop differently? Many societies were created in places where the fishing was bountiful - those settlements likely don't exist."

He looked at the class.

"Looking back at your life, can you identify any small changes that wound up having bigger implications than you expected?" he said. "Or is there anything you can think of that, if changed, would warp the world or your life in ways others might not predict?"

Beat.

"Or rant about the lack of sushi. This is a safe space."

He and Ben had had arguments this week.

Abridged Sex Ed, Thursday, Period Three

There was a TV and VCR set up and your teachers looked confused. This was probably not a good sign.

"We had a class," Magnus said, frowning. "We totally had a class."

And they had! It'd been planned out and everything!

"It was a good class," Cara agreed. "Made sense for one."

"Instead we have... this? Which might be art?" Magnus said, voice going progressively up at the end. "I don't know, I'm not part of that web series."

"I'm not even sure why this dimension has art involving fish." Cara [not Catra, bad fingers] had seen a lot of weird stuff but this was something else.

"Maybe it's good?" It wasn't. He botched that deception check hard.

"Doubt it." Cara smiled at the class, all teeth. "Enjoy."
