Into the Black Flight Club meeting (Tuesday evening)

Anakin and Padmé sat on the ramp of Padmé's ship. The smell of the pizza ordered for the Flight Club's first meeting wafted out and caused Anakin's stomach to rumble.

He practically vibrated with energy. Could be the possibility of flying again. Could be the excuse to spend more time with the Senator. Either way, he's in a fantastic mood.

"We can be in two categories, right?" Sam asked.

"Of course."

[OOC: Mostly because there were 20 chars that signed up for this and I figured that there could be some serious chaos without some anal-retentive categories.]

"Good. Because I miss it, and I'd hate to be stuck on the ground or to have to choose between tinkering and flying." She laughed. "I think my head would explode."

[OOC: I figured.]

Anakin laughed too. 'Oh, I'd never make anyone choose between those two. It'd be like cutting off an arm or something."

"And we wouldn't want that...I mean, how could you hold the wrench if that happened?"

"Something I'm hoping never to find out, for sure." Anakin grabbed a napkin and wiped off his fingers before running them over the gleaming surface of the ship. "When did you first learn to fly?"

"I was pretty young, actually ~~at least when you do the math from my current age~~. My Dad was Air Force, so it's kind of in the blood."

"My old teacher used to wonder if I had been born in a cockpit. I was entering races when I was still a really, really little kid." He looked over at where Padme was standing by the pizza. "In a starfighter for the first time when I was ten."

"Wow, that even beats me. Impressive."

Anakin looked a little smug. "Well, in the spirit of full disclosure, I really wasn't supposed to be in the ship at all. Ended up in a battle zone and got really, really lucky."

"I've flown. Only brooms though, I've never been in a ship or plane or anything."

"Brooms can fly?" Anakin grinned. "Can you show me how to do that? I think it would make my old teacher's head pop right off."

Beka overheard this and smirked. "A broom's not that much bigger than a pen. And it's smaller than a Cally."

Anakin smirked back. "Well, I could make the pen move. I'm not sure I could then sit on it and use it as a mode of transportation."

Beka cocked her head and considered. "So...you can't levitate yourself?" Realizing she'd asked yet another question, she smiled. "Guess you're right. I do ask a lot of questions. Sorry. Curious by nature."

"Not really, no. Other people, sure. Me? Not so much." He shrugged. "Something about physics. I don't really understand it."

"Huh. I guess that makes sense. You can't lift yourself physically either." Her eyes sparkled. "Probably just as well. Flying Jedi Master Fifi with pink bathrobe streaming behind him would be way too much."

Anakin groaned. "I should never have told you about Master Fifi. The idea of him flying towards me will haunt my dreams. We can slow our rate of descent, but even Jedi must occassionally submit to the laws of gravity. Falling from a fifty-story building is going to make me just as squashed as anyone else."

She grinned. "Don't fall from a fifty story building then. Not going to say anything about Jedi pizza. Oops. Too late."

"I'll have to let you ride my broom sometime. It's pretty fast, goes about 130 miles an hour. I haven't ridden in while since I've learned how to apparate. You know, vanishing from one place and turning up in another."

OOC: So did not mean for that first part to sound dirty. ~~Ok, maybe I did a little~~

"Fantastic. Would you mind demonstrating for the rest of the club at a meeting sometimes? We're all talking a big game about airplanes and helicopters and space ships, but I bet you're one of the few here that've flown on a broom."

[OOC: Hee! Coming from the fandom of the giant glowing phallic symbol, I totally get it :)]

"Sure, next meeting I'll be sure to bring it. Most people don't usually use brooms to travel anymore but we do use them to play a sport called Quidditch."

"Looking forward to it. I haven't met something I haven't been able to fly." He snorted. "Hope this won't be the first."

Same here. Only brooms.
