Study Hall -- Tuesday, October 11th

Sarah leans back in her chair, a dartboard set on the far wall that she's lazily throwing darts at. Almost every one hits the target -- the ones that don't make her scowl and put her in an even worse mood.

There's a sign set up on the desk that says, "Congratulations to the new student council," but every time one of the winners walks into the room, she gives them a nasty glare. She doesn't trust politicians, no matter how young they might be.

Rogue smiles at her. "Congratulations. You should drink some water. And pick up chewin' gum. Logan thinks it might help." When she sees Parker's eyes, she covers the paper quickly. "Uh, no one. I mean, you don't know them," she lies unconvincingly.

"Uh-hunh." Parker is amused but unconvinced, but decides to let it lie. For now.

"Gum I have. I'm getting candy later. Water? Okay." She blinks. "Echolls used to smoke?"

[identity profile] marieann-d.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Rogue frowns, confused. "Wha-- Oh! No, not Echolls. A friend of mine. From before."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. I think that's the third Logan I've come across in a month. Popular name." She sighs. "Did he manage to quit? And stay that way? Because this is only my first day, and my fingers keep twitching toward my purse for the smokes that aren't there any more."

[identity profile] marieann-d.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Er, well," Rogue pauses. "He quit cigarettes, but never managed to quit cigars. Kind of a trade off. And they look more...manly?" She looks confused. "Well, I guess. Why that would matter, I don't know." She shrugs. "And I noticed all the Logans here. I'd never met one before him, thought that was kinda weird."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Although, much less weird than the duplicate Aeryn/Valas and Mitchell/Crichtons, I guess." Parker sighs. "Okay, so, note to self: do not take up cigars as a substitute for cigs." She considers. "I'd look good smoking a cigar, though."

[identity profile] marieann-d.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Like Monica Lewinsky? I mean, I hear she liked cigars." Rogue's eyes go wide at her own joke. "Wow...I didn't mean to say that. I blame Logan completely for that one!" She starts laughing.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker's mouth twitches, but that was too weird for her to miss it. "Uh, Rogue? Are you blaming your dirty jokes on... someone who's not even here?" Parker frowns, raises an eyebrow. "How close are you and this Logan guy, anyway? Is that an L next to that M?"

[identity profile] marieann-d.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Rogue moves to obscure the paper more. "Oh, no, not an L. I mean, we are close. Were close. Are. Um, long story."

She looks slightly uncomfortable. "Uh, well, Logan's one of my," she looks around, trying to sound inconspicuous, "friends upstairs." She makes vague motions to her head, hoping Parker remembers the Dru incident, because she's sure as hell not explaining it again in the middle of study hall. "He says good luck with the smoking thing," she offers.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Parker keeps the chortle at admitting there's a crush to herself.

Some of the things she witnessed the previous month make more sense now. "Ohhhh." Folding her arms, Parker considers that, then blurts, "Oh, tell him thanks." After a minute or so, she asks, "Doesn't it get... loud? With other people-- thinking at you?"

[identity profile] marieann-d.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oblivious to her slip, Rogue shrugs. "Sometimes. Mostly they talk to each other and leave me alone. And Logan really likes to comment on my love life," she says, somewhat annoyed. "Acts like I'm just a kid. He really doesn't like me likin' Gr--" she cuts off. "Gray people. I met these girls the other day, all gray. One looked a lot like Rory, really, you know like Cameron and Crichton or Lee and Archie and all that." She's babbling, hoping that Parker didn't catch her big slip.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Gr. Gr? Parker makes a note of it, and lets it simmer in the back of her mind while she talks to Rogue about everything else.

"So you've got a big brother in your head? Delightful. I'd never get anywhere if I had to deal with certain people snarking on me every minute." Parker grins evilly, letting Rogue relax for a minute. "Do you mean Chiana? She was in one of my classes for a while, until I switched out. We didn't hit it off."

[identity profile] marieann-d.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, her too, but I was in town the other night," Rogue convienently doesn't mention where in town she was, "and met these two girls. They looked like they got pulled right out of a black and white movie. It's kind of weird. And one is Rory's double, only...kind of skanky, I feel." She shrugs. "They seemed alright, I guess. One of 'em didn't talk at all though."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Which, hey, any chatty big brother would have a problem with...."

Grissom. Aha!

"So, Logan has problems with who you date, and who you like, and-- ohhh," other things fall into place. "That's why you were asking Professor Drusilla about making it quiet." Parker looks disturbed. "Uh. Did you ever follow up on that?"

[identity profile] marieann-d.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, never had a big brother before. It kinda gets annoying." Rogue is oblivious to Parker's new knowledge. "And yeah, he comments about and during ... that, too."

She looks a little uncomfortable. "Uh, no. She freaks me out. A lot. And I have a weird feeling she'd enjoy looking through Logan and Erik's memories, and not because they are happy and fluffy. And that freaks me out even more." She shrugs. "They're okay most of the time. Just irritating. And I can block them out if I have to, but it takes a lot of energy, so I don't worry about it too often."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, god. A peanut gallery. You've got all my sympathy."

Parker lets out a breath of relief. "Good. Avoid her if at all possible. She's the reason I was a Perky Parker Princess during Homecoming-- she whammied me into NICE for the evening. God knows what she'd do to the guys in your head."

"Good to know. So. Dr. Grissom, hunh?" Parker dimples.

[identity profile] marieann-d.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't really see you at homecoming, I've only heard stories. But, yeah, Perky Parker? Not your best look."

Rogue's mouth dropped. "How...am I that obvious? Oh, you can't tell anyone, promise? Please Parker? I feel so silly..." She clasps her hands together, and starts popping her knuckles.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
"TELL me about it. I wish so many people hadn't gotten photos."

Parker grins. "No, you're not obvious. The 'grr' slip is what did it for me. Plus I saw you around him, after we whacked him with a really big book." She looks thoughtful. "If I were still into older guys, I could be into him."

[identity profile] marieann-d.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Rogue blushes. "Well damn. At least I know I'm not too obvious." She looks a little dreamy. "He's just so...nice, and smart and distinguished..." She shakes her head, snapping out of it. "Sorry. I know I'm bein' silly."

She tries to turn the subject away from her crush. "So, Rob Gordon kinda killed the older man crush thing?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
"He is all that," Parker agrees, then shudders. "Much better than Coach Ash was, under the influence. I'm trying not to hold it against him. By comparison, Dr. Grissom is Pierce Brosnan."

"And God, yes. Killed it with a boombox." Parker makes a face. "I thought more experience would mean he wouldn't get stupid, but I was way, way off. Sex, great. Poetry, not."
