Phys Ed: Week 5, Period 1 (Fri. 2/6)

The Danger Shop was set up like a gym as usual, but this week there was a giant mechanical bull in the center of the room, surrounded by cushy mats. Riding on top of it with one hand on the saddle reigns was the instructor, hair happily silver bow-free and face grinning broadly. He dismounted the bull when it was time for the lecture to begin.

As some would say, Ronon was scary when he was in a good mood. "Okay guys, so I saw this in a movie once and I say it counts as part of your education into those things physical. So ride the bull. See how long you can hold on once it gets up to speed." He picked up a large cowboy hat. "One hand goes on the bull, the other holds this hat in the air for balance. Go ahead and place bets on who falls off quickest and let's see what you got!"

Jack spat on his hands, rubbed them together, and mounted the equipment. Not dirty. He was bound and determined to make this ride last the longest. Not dirty.

He fell off at 8.5 seconds at top speed and tried to keep his breakfast in his stomach and not all over the mats.

Gavin took his position on the bull, one hand gripping so tightly his knuckles turned white. He tightened his legs and was determined to stay on for awhile.

Determination and reality went different paths today because Gavin was tossed off after seven seconds.

"Ah-hah! Never fear! I shall save you all!" Prince Edward hopped up on top of the metal beast and withdrew his wooden, very roughly made, sword.

...and he rode the thing until the very end, trying to poke at it as he hopped off.

"You are all free!"

Since she had no experience at all at this kind of thing, Molly surprised herself by making it a whole five seconds before she fell off, but the adrenaline rush was awesome.

Claire gripped it tightly with both hands and her thighs, and lasted about six seconds.

She was laughing when she bounced to her feet.

Keeping her lessons about dealing with untamed horses in mind, Éowyn got into position on the bull, and managed to last about eight seconds before a sharp movement took her by surprise and she fell off. She was laughing as she landed though - that had been far more exhilarating than she'd expected.

He picked himself off of the mat with a giant grin. "Can I do that again?"

Ben's lessons with Aravis, along with a natural stubbornness not to look like an idiot, meant that he lasted on the bull just a little longer than Gavin.

Which meant he was a happy little Jedi.

Riding the bull wasn't exactly what Reno would consider the most fun he could have with his pants on, but he had to admit that he did enjoy the rush of shit to the brain that came with lasting on the thing for eight seconds.

Caritas needed one of these things, he figured. So that he could practise on it some more.
